2 Columbus Christmas Tree Farms + Family Photos

I think people fall into two categories: those who decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving and those who are adamant about waiting until after. *Someone* in my household is adamant about waiting until after Thanksgiving before the tree goes up and Christmas music is played. So we usually get our Christmas tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. BUT we did get our family photos taken by HB Photography at a Christmas tree farm in mid November, so I kind of feel like I got to cheat a little!

If you haven’t got your tree yet, I’ve got two great options for you with slightly different experiences! AND I’m going to share some of our family photos! 🙂 It’s not to late to book your own holiday session with Helen – send her a message through her website or Facebook page using the links here! These are going to make great Christmas presents! (I hope my mom isn’t reading my blog!) 😉

I can’t give you a personal rundown about a ton of Christmas tree farms, but here’s two I’ve been to and at the end of this post, I have a link to the longest list I’ve found to date! 🙂

1. Cackler Family Farms

4971 Cackler Rd.
Delaware, OH 43015
740-524-5311

After we got our pictures taken, we explored a little bit of Cackler Farms. There was a play area for kids:

And a lamb and miniature donkey for petting!

You can choose and cut down your own tree! Everything you need to do so is provided by the farm!

2. HTH Farm Market

2340 W. Dublin Granville Rd.
Columbus, OH 43235
614-266-9377

For the past couple of years, we have picked out a tree at HTH Farm Market. The Market is open April through December and sells a variety of fresh produce, cheese and meats and other local products like honey, maple syrup and even some local crafts. 100% of the proceeds from the market benefit Hope Thru Housing, which is a residential substance abuse treatment center.

There are some fun photo ops at HTH Farm Market:

And plenty of trees to choose from!

Really, what my kids care the most about is that they get to pick a candy cane off the tree inside the market!

The market is right next to train tracks, so that is a plus for my train-loving kids! (Though we were advised to wait inside while it passed due to the loud whistle!)

The first two years after Mayson was born, we ended up getting our tree in the evening and decorating it the next morning. The first year was by default. Trying to decorate that first night with a fussy baby and a 3 year old was proving wildly unsuccessful. We learned our lesson, and the next year we did it on purpose! Since the kids are up ridiculously early most days, it just made sense.

We changed things up a little bit this year. We got our tree on the day of the “incident” at OSU – though I kind of felt like delaying our plans, it turned out to be a nice way to spend the afternoon and early evening of that crazy day.

If you haven’t got your tree yet and are looking for more options, the biggest list of tree farms I have found is on This Week Community News! Through some personal contacts, I also know that Trees of Hope is donating their proceeds to an orphanage in Haiti this year.

One last thing . . . please take a minute to tell me about some of your Columbus Favorites! Click the link here to tell me and you will be entered into a GIVEAWAY for a family play pass to Recreations Outlet! Thank you so much!! 🙂
