1. 71st Millersport Sweet Corn Festival

The Millersport Sweet Corn Festival includes free concerts, food, sweet corn, rides, games, prizes, pony rides, contests and more! Admission to the festival is free but parking is $10 and there is a cost for rides.

2. Storytime with Kara at ME and the MOON

Me and the Moon is a new children’s consignment store and they will be hosting Storytime with Kara every 1st and 3rd Friday at 10:00 AM. This Friday’s theme is Animals: Past and Present, Land and Sea!

3. Columbus Greek Festival at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral

4. McGuffey Lane in Concert at Columbus Commons

Kick off the weekend with a free concert by McGuffey Lane at Columbus Commons! Drinks and food trucks begin at 5:30 PM and the opening act starts at 7:00. McGuffey Lane starts at 8:00 PM.

7. Ohio Cup Vintage Base Ball Festival at Ohio Village

The Ohio Cup features over 30 teams from all over the US who come to Ohio Village for one of the largest vintage base ball festivals in the nation! There will also be fun games for the kids, dancing, a barbershop quartet, food trucks, rides in a Ford Model A, blacksmith demonstrations and the chance to try out base ball for yourself! It’s also First Friday this weekend at Ohio History Center featuring the movie A League of Their Own. All activities are included with general admission or membership.

8. Historic Dublin Street Bazaar

This event is an open air market featuring local artists, artisans, crafters, and food trucks and is free to attend! There will be live music, 14 food trucks and over 70 street vendors and a Kid Zone!

9. Giant Sunflower Craft at Franklin Park Conservatory

10. Grand Opening of Donatos Powell

Dontatos Powell celebrates it’s reopening of the new store and the new school year with a block party from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM! There will be face painting, guests from the Columbus Zoo, balloon animals and virtual reality games! The first 100 people will get Free 4D movie passes from The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and a Pepsi 2-Liter! There will also be free pizza!

11. Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival

When: Saturday-Monday, September 2-4, 2017

This 3 day festival offers live entertainment, food, rides, games, a car show, and a parade! On Saturday, kids ride the rides for free from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM!

12. Family Fun Day at Columbus Commons

When: Saturday, September 2, 2017
Time: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: 160 S. High St., Columbus, OH 43215

Head down to Columbus Commons for a free Family Fun Day! Activities include inflatables, face painting, balloon twisters, putt-putt, crafts, a photo booth and more! A $5 wristband is available for unlimited access to all activities. (Not all activities require a wristband.) Food trucks will be on site and the movie The Jungle Book will be shown at 4:00 PM.

13. 44 Pages Screening Event at Gateway Film Center

Headquartered in Columbus, Highlights is celebrating it’s 70th Anniversary Issue with a new documentary called 44 PAGES. You can see the film from September 3-7, 2017 but on Saturday, a special family-friendly event is being held that includes free giveaways, a book reading, games, crafts and more! Activities start at 2:00 PM and the movie will be shown at 3:00 PM, followed by a Q&A.

14. Family Movie and Popcorn at Upper Arlington Public Library

15. Flashlight Cave Tours at Olentangy Indian Caverns

Explore the caverns with just a flashlight! Children must be at least 8 years old to participate and flashlights will be provided. This is a limited tour of the caverns and online reservations are required (click here)! 16. Movies in the Park at Highbanks Metro Park

Enjoy a free screening of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on the outdoor screen. There will be costumed characters and opportunities to learn about the science behind the movie! Bring a chair or a blanket!

17. Bob Evans Family Day at Columbus Clippers

Family Day Admission ($15) is good for two Adults and up to four youth 18 and under to Bleachers, Lawn, or Standing Room. Reserved seating is $25. Kids can run the bases in the 10TV Commit to be Fit Fun Run after the game!

18. UA Labor Day Arts Festival in Northam Park

When: Monday, September 4, 2017

The Upper Arlington Arts festival is held in Northam Park and features around 200 local, regional and national artists. There is also live entertainment, vendors, art activities and food available for purchase! Admission is free!

If you’re looking for some fun activities to do with your family over the long weekend, I’ve rounded up a list of events going on over Labor Day Weekend! Don’t worry, I’ll still have my full list of kid-friendly activities to publish later this week, but these are a few fun ideas to whet your appetite in the meantime! 😉 (See 18 things to do Labor Day Weekend 2017 right here!)

Friday:

Columbus Greek Festival at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral

The Columbus Greek Festival is going on Friday-Monday, so you make this a part of any day this weekend! However, you should stop in on Friday because your ticket ($5 for adults, kids 12 and under are free) is good for the entire weekend! That way, any time you don’t feel like cooking this weekend, you can head down to the festival for yummy greek food instead! 😉 Besides food, the festival also includes educational activities, shops, music and dancing, exhibits and a kids activity center! See the link for all the times and details!

McGuffey Lane in Concert at Columbus Commons

Kick off the weekend with a free concert at Columbus Commons! Drinks and food trucks begin at 5:30 PM and the opening act starts at 7:00, so even if the kiddos can’t stay up for a late concert (which starts at 8:00 PM), you can have dinner and enjoy some music before bedtime!


Saturday:

Ohio Cup Vintage Base Ball Festival at Ohio History Center

The Ohio Cup features over 30 teams from all over the US who come to Ohio Village for one of the largest vintage base ball festivals in the nation! This is 1860’s style base ball (yes, it was two words back then)! There will also be fun games for the kids, dancing, a barbershop quartet, food trucks, rides in a Ford Model A, blacksmith demonstrations and the chance to try out base ball for yourself! This event is going on Saturday AND Sunday, so you can take your pick! Included with general admission or membership.

Shakespeare in the Park at Schiller Park

Thursday through Sunday you can see the Actors’ Theatre of Columbus perform Shakespeare’s The Tempest in Schiller Park. The performances are “pay what you will” and donations are gladly accepted. You can reserve a seat ahead of time for $20 or reserve a blanket space for $20 which includes an ATC logo blanket!


Monday:

UA Labor Day Arts Festival in Northam Park

The Upper Arlington Arts festival is held in Northam Park and features around 200 local, regional and national artists. There is also live entertainment, vendors, art activities and food available for purchase! Admission is free!

Dime a Dog Night at Columbus Clippers

Sugardale Hot Dogs are only $.10 each all night (or afternoon) long! The Clippers play the Louisville Bats at 2:05 PM!

This is the last Food Truck Friday of the season! Food Trucks this week include Hot Chicken Takeover, Mikey’s Late Night Slice and Kona Ice Little Buckeye! There will also be a special visit from Stinger from the Columbus Blue Jackets! Food trucks will be donating 10% of their proceeds to RMHC!

4. America’s Best Dinosaur Show at the Columbus Convention Center

Learn about Ohio’s military history this weekend including reenactments, military-themed board games, uniform talks and displays of uniforms, weapons and gear. The day also includes an advance screening of the upcoming Ken Burns and Lynn Novick documentary, The Vietnam War taking place at the Ohio History Center. All activities are included with admission or membership.

9. Hoot Family Film Series at Gateway Film Center

This event takes place the last Saturday of each month and includes family friendly activities like games, stories, crafts and live music by the Shazzbots! Recommended for ages 1-8.

10. Mud & Madness at Blacklick Woods Metro Park

13. Urban Scrawl 11 in the Franklinton Arts District

This two-day arts festival features the live creation of murals at 400 West Rich as part of Central Ohio’s largest ongoing urban renewal project. Festival includes food trucks, coffee from Bottoms Up Coffee, ice pops from J-Pops and live entertainment such as beatboxing, breakdancing, and music!

14. Musicologie’s 3rd Anniversary Bash
