Mark Your Calendar: The Nutcracker

Spread the Love

The Nutcracker is synonymous with the holidays! Maybe you already see it every year or you’re looking to start a special tradition with your family. Seeing The Nutcracker in the beautiful Ohio Theater is a memorable experience! It’s a Christmas memory of mine and I am looking forward to seeing it again this year! To celebrate, I’m giving away a 4 pack of tickets to The Nutcracker on my Facebook page!

This post is written in partnership with BalletMet and the following information and photos have been provided by BalletMet.

Central Ohio’s most beloved holiday tradition since 1974 — BalletMet’s The Nutcracker — will once again be presented from Dec. 8 to 24 at the historic Ohio Theatre. Set to Tchaikovsky’s original score performed by the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the ballet is choreographed by former BalletMet Artistic Director Gerard Charles.

“This is our 40th anniversary season at BalletMet and the one constant production we’ve brought every year to our fans has been ‘The Nutcracker.’ We love the opportunity to perform in front of tens of thousands of Central Ohioans each year with this beloved production,” said BalletMet Artistic Director Edwaard Liang. “It’s wonderful to have our professional company and our academy students working together to create this show for Central Ohio.”

The tale of the imaginative Clara, the nutcracker who turns into a prince, the Mouse King and the Sugarplum Fairy, will feature a large cast including BalletMet’s professional dancers from both its companies – BalletMet and BalletMet 2, along with 152 students from the BalletMet Academy.  Each performance will have more than 122 characters onstage – including academy students in the roles of pages, party children, mice, and soldiers performing alongside BalletMet’s renowned professionals.

“Approximately 27,000 people came to our performances last year, and we look forward to delighting even more patrons with our 40th anniversary Nutcracker performance this year,” said BalletMet Executive Director Sue Porter. “Attending ‘The Nutcracker’ is a family holiday tradition here in Central Ohio, and the cast and staff make the choreography, the costumes and the sets come alive to make it a truly magical experience.”

I’m partnering with Leeds Farm to tell you about this fun event!

Looking for a new adventure for girls’ night out? Then gather up your bewitching friends, hop on your brooms, and fly out to Leeds Farm for a wicked fun evening while supporting a great cause!

Witches Night Out will take place at Leeds Farm on Thursday, October 5, 2017 (rain date is October 12) from 6:00 – 8:30 pm. Leeds Farm is located at 8738 Marysville Road, Ostrander OH 43061, just 15 minutes north of the Columbus Zoo.

The kids are away so the witches can play! All the Leeds Farm activities including hayrides, Pumpkin Jumps, Big Zip and Mini Zip lines, John Deere combine slide, mountain slides, rolling tubes, farm pond, straw forts, Paintball on the Porch, and feeding farm animals are included with admission.

Also included with admission is festive food and sweets, bubbling witches brew, one glass of wine (additional glasses can be purchased), plus chances to win 25 gift baskets each valued at $150 to $200.

One raffle ticket is included with each admission ticket. Additional raffle tickets are earned for each activity you participate in (e.g. hayrides, Pumpkin Jump, pedal carts, zip line, racer slides, etc.). There is a separate entry cauldron for each basket, so you can choose which basket drawing(s) to enter.

Wondering what to wear? Dress up in your favorite witch hat, fun accessory or full costume! This is an outdoor event at a working farm, so dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.

Four wineries will be pouring their local wines, so stop by and visit Bokes Creek Winery, Buckeye Winery, Soine Vineyards, and Camelot Cellars Winery.

Tickets can be purchased online at and in-person at Richwood Bank’s Marysville, Delaware and Richwood locations.

Thanks to the generous sponsorships of A Catered Event, Richwood Bank, Memorial Health, Honda Marysville/Performance Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Delaware, Geotechnical Consultants Inc., Alice’s Piece of Cake, Black Wing Shooting Center, Audio-Pro Mobile DJ Entertainment, and host Leeds Farm, 100% of ticket sales are donated to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

I’m living proof that research works,” shares Christy Leeds, co-owner of Leeds Farm. “The first three Witches Night Out events raised $29,924 for Making Strides and we look forward to a fourth spectacular evening!”
