What Should We Do This Weekend? July 13-15, 2018

Over 35 family-friendly events happening in Columbus, Ohio this weekend!

FRIDAY

9:45 AM – Drop In Music Class at Coffee Connections of Hilliard – enjoy a drop in class with WeJoySing. There are two class times for different ages. See the link for details.

10:00 AM – Commons for Kids at Columbus Commons –  this week’s theme is Animal Day featuring special guests. As always, free carousel rides and bounce houses will be on site along with other activities!

10:30 AM – KidX Summer Series at Polaris Fashion Place – enjoy free activities outside by the fountains at Polaris! This week’s theme is Star Wars! See more about KidX here.

11:00 AM – From Book to Film at Gateway Film Center – watch a movie based on a book for free with your library card! This week’s movie is Jumanji and there are showings at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM every day!

7:00 PM – Adventures of Robin Hood at Abbey Theater – enjoy a one hour, family friendly performance of The Adventures of Robin Hood. Tickets are $5/person. Performances take place July 9-13th at 7:00 PM.

7:00 PM – The Main Event in Bexley – this week the Main Event will take place at the Bexley pool! There will be a cookout, concessions, ice cream, water related activities and a showing of the Lion King around 9:00 PM.

7:00 PM – Family Movie Night at The Barn at Blystone Farm – enjoy a movie in the barn! This week’s movie will be Ratatouille. $3/ticket. Concessions will be available.

8:00 PM – Free Move Night: Coco at Columbus Commons – the movie begins around 8:15 PM. The park will be closed for a ticketed event prior to the movie. Bring a blanket or lawn chair!

8:30 PM – Friday Night Flicks: Coco at Sycamore Park Amphitheater – bring a blanket or chairs to watch a movie in the park!

8:30 PM – Family Movie Night: Coco in Weinland Park – enjoy a free movie in the park!

SATURDAY

9:00 AM – Family Costume Breakfast for Force of Fandom at Columbus Museum of Art – come dressed as your favorite character, meet R2D2, and enjoy early access to the new Force of Fandom exhibit! Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children. $5 for kids 5 and under and members receive $5 off per ticket. Tickets can be purchased online.

10:00 AM – Westerville Music & Arts Festival in Heritage Park – The festival takes place July 14th from 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM and July 15th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and features art, live music and food! A special Anniversary Concert is taking place on Saturday at 7:30 PM on the Main Stage.

10:00 AM – Community Day 2018 at Pleasant Township Fire Department – this event features vendors and crafters, Kona Shaved Ice, balloon animals, face painting, bounce house, food trucks, Touch-A-Truck, dunk tank, games and more!

10:00 AM – TchotchkePalooza at the Hartman Rock Garden – enjoy a free Summer Garden Open House at the Hartman Rock Garden featuring a live indie-folk-rock band and short tours of the garden! 10:00 AM – Metro Parks and 10TV Outdoor Adventure at Highbanks Metro Park – celebrate summer with rock climbing, sack races, face painting, live animals and more!

10:00 AM – Storytime LIVE! Pet Play Date w/ Curious George & Pinkalicious at Kiddie Academy of Powell – you can bring your pet to this LIVE story time with Curious George and Pinkalicious! Reserve your free spot online.

10:00 AM – Teddy Bear Picnic at PARTY Like It’s Your Birthday – two times are available (10:00 AM and 12:00 PM) for this Teddy Bear Picnic featuring a story, bear themed crafts, games and snacks! Kids can make honey slime and there will be face painting and professional portraits.

10:30 AM – July Grown-Up & Me Art: My Sunshine at Art with Anna – kids ages 3 and up can join with an adult to make an art project! $15/couple, $5 for each additional artist.

11:00 AM – Summer Jam West at Westgate Park – enjoy a grassroots arts and music festival in Westgate Park featuring live bands, food trucks, art and crafts for sale plus free kids activities! The festival ends at 7:00 PM.

11:00 AM – Story time at Franklin Park Conservatory – local author Carlotta Penn will read her book, Dream A Rainbow. This story time will take place at the Learning Pavilion in the new Children’s Garden. Story times will take place at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. In between story times kids can create a bookmark. 11:00 – PBJ & Jazz Family Concert in Topiary Park – begin with a story time inside the library at 11:00 AM, continue with a family-friendly jazz concert at 12:00 PM and a craft time at 1:00 PM with CMA. This event is free.

11:00 AM – Delaware Family Festival at Andrews House – this block party features a bounce house, face painting, lawn games, crafts and free lunch from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM!

12:00 PM – Grand Opening Summer Party at Hoot Studio – celebrate the grand opening of this new inclusive play cafe! Drop in from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM for face painting, a balloon artist and crafts!

12:00 PM – See the BUGS! on Bird Day at Oakland Nursery – see bugs, birds and plants at Bird Day at Oakland Nursery!

1:00 PM – Family Creeking Adventure at Battelle Darby Creek – catch fish, bugs and crawdads while playing in the creek!

6:00 PM – Blank and Brush Block Party #2 at Blank Slate Coffee – enjoy live music, artists, food trucks and more in Gahanna!

6:30 PM – Monster Trucks and Thrill Show at Franklin County Fair – watch a monster truck show featuring Pro Quad Wars, Monster Truck Rides and more! Gates open at 6:30 for the Pit Party and the show starts at 8:00 PM

8:30 PM – DDL Saturday Cinema-July with Destination Downtown Lancaster – enjoy the movie Coco and pre-movie activities beginning 1 hour before the movie.

SUNDAY

9:00 AM – Powell Street Market in Downtown Powell – this event features over 100 local vendors, food trucks and family friendly activities! Read about things to do in Powell with your kids.

10:00 AM – Buckeye Comic Con at Courtyard Columbus West – this comic book show features special guests, prizes, and free parking. Kids ages 6 and under are free. Admissions $4.

12:00 PM – National Ice Cream Day at Diamonds Ice Cream Hilliard – celebrate National Ice Cream day at Diamonds Hilliard! Buy 2 gourmet popsicles and get the 3rd one free!

12:00 PM – Pizzuti Collection Family Day at Pizzuti Collection – this is a family-friendly day at Pizzuti Collection featuring activity books, crafts and a story time at 1:30 PM. Read about our visit to Pizzuti Collection Family Day here.

12:00 PM – CAC 40th Anniversary Community Celebration at Columbus Cultural Arts Center – celebrate 40 years at The Columbus Cultural Arts Center with food, artwork, demonstrations and special performances. This is a free event!

1:00 PM – Sunny Glen Garden Educational Tour & Children’s Garden Craft Day at Sunny Glen Garden – this event features a children’s garden craft, an open garden tour, garden munchies, door prizes and an optional educational program about organic pest control for $10.

1:30 PM – Cheap Skates at Chiller Ice Rinks – Sundays from 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM admission is $5 for all and kids 4 and under are free! Skate rental is $3 for those over 4. All locations.

7:30 PM – Family Movie in the Grandstand: Disney Pixar’s Coco at Franklin County Fair – watch the movie Coco in the Grandstand during Franklin County Fair’s Family Day! The pre-party starts at 8:00 PM, the movie starts at dusk. Free with admission.
