What Should We Do This Weekend? July 6-8, 2018

Over 25 family-friendly events happening in Columbus, Ohio this weekend!

FRIDAY:

10:00 AM – Forest Fridays at Sunbury Urban Farm – enjoy a nature activity followed by a forest playtime in the woods! Suitable for ages 2-5. This is a free event but donations are welcome.

10:00 AM – Hilliard Library Concert  – check out the new Hilliard Library and see Miss Marlene perform new and favorite songs! There will be two shows: 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM.

10:30 AM – KidX Summer Series at Polaris Fashion Place – enjoy free activities outside by the fountains at Polaris! This week’s theme is Super Heroes and Villains! See more about KidX here.

11:00 AM – From Book to Film at Gateway Film Center – watch a movie based on a book for free with your library card! This week’s movie is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and there are showings at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM every day!

6:00 PM – Summer Sizzle at Gantz Park – this week’s concert series will move to Gantz Park to kick of National Parks and Recreation Month. You can explore the farmhouse, gardens, barn and scenic walking path and enjoy a special concert beginning at 7:00 PM featuring the Central Ohio Brass Band in the gazebo.

6:00 PM – First Friday Arts in the Alley in Gahanna – this makers market and street festival features street vendors, food carts and live entertainment!

7:00 PM – Friday Night Float at Sharon Woods Metro Park – take a canoe out on the lake, all equipment provided! Kids must be abel to fit into a life jacket.

7:00 PM – MoMM Foundation Christmas in July at Westerville Pool – this family fun night includes swimming, water games, inflatables, face painting, balloon artist, food, drinks and more! Celebrating Christmas in July, kids can also get their picture taken with Santa and decorate a holiday cookie. Proceeds benefit the Holiday Blessings program which helps to provide Christmas gifts to local families in need.

7:00 PM – Music in the Park: Concert On The Green at Kingsdale – celebrate Upper Arlington’s Centennial with 100 minutes of music each week! This week features the Charlie Foxtrot Quintet

SATURDAY:

9:00 AM – Kids Workshop at Home Depot Stores – kids can build a fishing game and decorate it with paint and stickers. Kids get a certificate, apron and commemorative pin for completing their project. Recommended for ages 5-12.

9:30 AM – Saturday Studio Art at Art with Anna – Kids 4 and up can be dropped off to make an art project. This week’s class is a Sailboat Collage. $20/artist.

10:00 AM – Discovery Stations in The Children’s Garden at Franklin Park Conservatory – from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM kids can drop by the Discovery Station in The Children’s Garden to participate in hands on activities. This weekend’s theme is Red, White and Bloom. Included in admission or membership.

10:00 AM – Preschool Story Time at Scioto Audubon, Grange Insurance Audubon Center – hear nature inspired stories for preschoolers! Check out my list of 9 Things to do with Your Kids at Scioto Audubon for before or after!

10:00 AM – Storytime, music and fun! at Cover to Cover Books for Young Readers – Brian Griffin, award winning artist and musician, will read and perform stories and songs. Appropriate for ages 4 and up.

10:30 AM – Family Storytime at Slate Run Farm – enjoy The Little Red Hen and activities where kids can learn how grain becomes bread.

11:00 AM – Ready for Kindergarten Family Story Time at Main Library – the whole family can join in on this story time at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Main Library.

2:00 PM – Fun at the Frog Fountain at Easton Town Center – on Saturday and Sunday kids can enjoy caricature artist, face painters and balloon artists on Fenlon Squre!

11:00 AM – Pete the Cat Party at Upper Arlington Public Library (Main Library)  – Pete the Cat will make a guest appearance at this party that includes stories, crafts and games!

12:00 PM – Wheat Threshing at Gallant Farm Park – learn how to thresh and winnow wheat by hand and watch demonstrations of wheat being ground into flour. This event is free.

8:00 PM – Campfire & S’mores at Homestead Metro Park – enjoy s’mores around the campfire. S’mores ingredients and roasting sticks provided.

SUNDAY:

10:00 AM – Discovery Stations in The Children’s Garden at Franklin Park Conservatory – from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM kids can drop by the Discovery Station in The Children’s Garden to participate in hands on activities. This weekend’s theme is Red, White and Bloom. Included in admission or membership.

12:00 PM – $1 Cone Day at Handel’s Columbus – single scoop regular or sugar cones are $1 this Sunday only!

12:00 PM – Ray Ray’s Westerville First Anniversary Party at Ray Ray’s Maxtown – celebrate Ray Ray’s 1st anniversary of their Westerville location with a hog roast, live chalk murals, kids activities, music and more!

1:00 PM – Ice Cream Social at Coffee Connections of Hilliard – enjoy a free ice cream social with 614 Mom. Read more about the free play area at Coffee Connections here!

1:30 PM – Cheap Skates at Chiller Ice Rinks – on Sundays until 3:30 PM through August, admission will be $5 for all ages, skate rental will be $3 and kids 4 and under are free!

2:00 PM – Fun at the Frog Fountain at Easton Town Center – on Saturday and Sunday kids can enjoy caricature artist, face painters and balloon artists on Fenlon Squre!

2:00 PM – Family Fun with the Columbus Zoo at Franklin Park Conservatory – visit with animals from the zoo! Included with membership or admission.

2:00 PM – Base Ball – Adena Worthington’s vs Ohio Village Muffins at Adena Mansion & Garden Society – take a trip to Chillicothe to watch 1860’s style “base ball”. The Adena Worthingtons play the Ohio Village Muffins!

3:30 PM – July Family Paint: Ice Cream Sundae at Art with Anna – kids ages 6 and up can paint a ice cream themed painting with the whole family! $15/artist.
