1. Indianola Informal Carnival at Indianola K-8

Help support Indianola Informal K-8 by attending their annual carnival!  Event includes bounce houses, activity booths, a silent auction, games, food and entertainment!  Money raised will help provide students with funds for field trips, technology, enrichment activities and more.

2. Ohio N-Scale Weekend at Franklin County Fairgrounds

When: Saturday and Sunday, May 14 & 15, 2016

Model trains will be on display at the 8th annual Ohio N-Scale Weekend! Adults are $5.

3. Touch a Truck in Grove City and Pickerington

Two Touch a Truck events are going on on Saturday!  There will be lots of large vehicles for kids to learn about, touch, sit in and play on!

4. Countdown to Kindergarten at Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center

If you have a child headed toward Kindergarten in Columbus City Schools, they’re invited to Countdown to Kindergarten at this fun event featuring games, activities, give-aways and a vist with Curious George!

5. 3 Year Anniversary Party at The Hills Market Downtown

The Hills Market Downtown is celebrating turning three years old with a carnival-like, family-friendly party!  The party will include live music, carnival games, face painting, snacks and free samples from vendors all over Ohio.  The event is free, but if you register through Eventbrite (the link above) you will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card to The Hills Market Downtown and you will receive a 20% off coupon to use on the day of the party!

6. Food Trucks & Science Fest at Genoa Park

7. Dr. U.R. Awesome at Big Fun

Awesome is a 2 x Guinness World Record Holder for the largest free floating soap bubbles indoors and outdoors!  He will be hanging around Big Fun as they celebrate their 3rd anniversary!  Big Fun will be open from 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM and you can also receive 25% off on that day if you say the word “fun”!

8. Disney in Concert – Tale As Old As Time at Ohio Theatre

9. Family Day at the Orange Johnson House

So there’s a possibility of snow this weekend.  Big Deal.  We’re from Ohio . . . we’ve got this.  (Right?)  Sigh.  Well, here are 8 things you can do indoors this weekend!  I hope you enjoy the weekend!

1. Family Books and Build at Upper Arlington Main Library – Tremont Road

This event features free health screenings for children and adults, food trucks and fitness information!  A $5 fun band provides access to lots of fun games for kids including a bounce house, relay races and more!  Proceeds support programs at Scioto Darby Elementary School.

6. Nisonger Sensory Friendly Screening: E.T. The Extra Terrestrial at Gateway Film Center

The movie E.T. will be shown in a sensory-friendly manner: lower volume and lights up in order to make the experience more comfortable for those with autism or developmental disabilities.  Tickets are free.

I’ve got 10 things for you to do with your kids this weekend!  We’ve run the gamut here – from tutus to monster trucks!  April showers may keep us indoors this coming week, but I’m feeling hopeful and excited about all the things there are to do now that spring is here!  I’ve got a lot of ideas in the works for future posts to share with you!  But for now, let’s look forward to the weekend!

1. Preschool Open Gym at Dublin Community Recreation Center

2. Pop-Up Party at William H. Adams Community Center

Columbus Recreation and Parks Department is in the midst of their 2016 Spring Break Initiative which includes special programing at six area community centers.  Activities are “open to all” and the pop-up parties are sponsored by Radio One.

I thought it was worth noting that Jeni’s opens for the season in German Village on April 1!  Yay ice cream!

High energy, action packed show for motorsports fans!  Special passes are also available to see the trucks up close and meet the drivers!

5. Lady Tutu 5K at Easton Town Center

This women’s only event benefits Make-A-Wish® Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana.  The Little Princess Dash is for girls 8 and under and participants will receive a tiara, cotton shirt, princess wand and ribbon.  Walk up registrations are accepted.

6. Spring Puppet Show at Columbus Metropolitan Library – Hilliard Branch

Enjoy a kid-friendly introduction to jazz!  Concerts are $5 per person, $20 maximum per family.  Children receive a lunch that includes a PB&J sandwich, juice and a cookie.

This event offers fun for the whole family: diaper derby races, play areas for the kids, a Mommy Relaxation Station, and the Dad’s Challenge!  Also featured are educational seminars, displays featuring the latest products and much more!  Kids 12 and under are free!
