1. Arbor Day Celebration at Franklin Park Conservatory

This fun and educational event includes tree climbing for kids AND adults, a scavenger hunt, tree ring counting, and more opportunities to learn about trees and how important they are! While supplies last, those who attend will get a free tree sapling! There will be food trucks on site and a raffle for free tree work from Ahlum & Arbor. Kids can make Tree Cookie Necklaces on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

2. Customer Appreciation Weekend at PizzaFire Dublin

This weekend only all pizzas will be half price with unlimited toppings! (Dublin location only!) The proceeds from the weekend will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters and Boys and Girls Club! There will be a Kids’ Pizza Contest on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM and everyone wins something!

Stroll Uptown Westerville as the shops stay open late! Enjoy live music, art, performing art, street vendors and family-friendly activities like bounce houses, a caricature artist, book characters and fire and rescue vehicles! Before hand (5:15 PM -5:45 PM) the Westerville Library will host “4th Friday Stories and Fun” which will feature a storytime!

4. Healthy Kids Day at your local YMCA

5. Meet Z Yang at American Girl – Columbus

6. HOOT Family Film Series at the Gateway Film Center

This event takes place the last Saturday of each month and includes family friendly activities like games, stories, crafts and live music by the Shazzbots! The kid-friendly short films start at 11:00 AM. This month’s theme is Flowers! All movies are rated “G” and admission is free with a suggestion donation of a canned good for The Open Shelter!

7. Discover the Dinosaurs UNLEASHED at Ohio Expo Center

This walk-through exhibit offers the chance to be up close with a Stegosaurus, Velociraptor and T-Rex! Kids can dig for fossils, play and bounce and do crafts in the Kids Adventure Zone!

8. 31st Annual Duckling Day at Columbus Metropolitan Library – Whetstone Branch

Clintonville Rotary hosts the annual Duckling Day which includes a parade, live ducks, a puppet show and literacy activities with a ducky theme! You can pick up a duck costume packet at the library before the event or duck masks will be available the day of the program!

10. Blacklick Woods Outdoor Adventure

This special event is a collaboration between Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks & ECRN+ (YMCA of Central Ohio) with the goal of getting children and youth of all abilities outdoors to play games, see wildlife and have fun! 13. Swim to End Cancer at Aqua Tots Swim School

Do you have a toddler in the Daniel Tiger phase?  Oh my.  I have a distinct memory of getting up in the middle of the night to feed my newborn and the ditty “it’s ok to feel sad sometimes . . . little by little, you’ll feel better, again,” running through my head.  My oldest son was 3 at the time and in a major Daniel Tiger phase.  I’m not going to read into why that song was running through my head . . . ANYWAY, I digress . . . If you have a little one in that phase, you (I mean your little one) has the chance to see him live . . . There are some other fun things going on this weekend.  I learned a few new things putting together this post and I’m looking forward to trying them out!  ALSO – there’s a link for free movie tickets!

1. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live at Palace Theatre

The Home and Garden show is going on and there are two events on Saturday tailored to children that you might want to check out:

3:00 PM Dr. Insecta’s Bug Lab Experience “Ready to get bugged? Children and grownups will get to meet the stars of the bug lab stage show, including Rhonda The Roach, Morticia The Tarantula and Darth Vader The Scorpion. Get ready for a close encounter of an insect kind.”

5.  Crafts for Kids at Lakeshore Learning Center, Polaris

This weekend I’ve included events for all ages, especially things the whole family can enjoy together!  February is halfway over and with some warmer temperatures in the forecast, I’m feeling hopeful for spring!  I hope you find something fun to do!

1.  Columbus Winter Farmers Market at Whetstone Community Center

“The 13th Annual Columbus Polar Plunge. Participants obtain monetary pledges and jump into the frigid waters of the Polar Plunge Pool. All proceeds from this event help Special Olympics Ohio provide year-round sports training and competition opportunities to more than 23,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Through successful experiences in sports, Special Olympics Ohio athletes gain confidence and build a positive self-image which carries over into the classroom, home, job and community. 6.  Hubbard Lantern Festival

 “The Hubbard Lantern Festival is coming up this Sunday, 3pm-6pm! We hope you will join us for this free festival! We will have a lion dance, origami, Japanese and Chinese calligraphy, a Martial Arts Demonstration, a song by Mrs Taylor’s Kindergarten class, you can learn to make wontons, we’ll have several craft stations, and come see what the art class has been working on! Food trucks will be on site with food available for purchase.  Come see the gym transformed!  This event is free and open to the community!
