What Should We Do This Weekend? 4th of July 2017

This weekend’s post is all about the 4th of July! Happy Independence Day!

1. The Lion King KIDS at Columbus Children’s Theatre

This performance of Disney’s Lion King by the Advanced Performance Academy (kids age 8-11) is 30 minutes long and recommended for ages 5 and up!

2. Ashland Ohio BalloonFest at Freer Field

When: Thursday – Saturday, June 29 – July 1, 2017
Time Begins Thursday at 4:00 PM and ends late Saturday night.
Location: State Route 60 at Morgan Ave., Ashland, OH 44805

Watch hot air balloons take off, enjoy pony rides, laser tag, inflatables, an exotic animal show, an interactive balloon glow and much more at this three day BalloonFest in Ashland, OH!

3. KidX Club at Polaris Fashion Place

When: Friday, June 30, 2017
Time: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: 1500 Polaris Pkwy., Columbus, OH 43240

This weekly event for kids will take place at the fountain, outside at Polaris Fashion Place or inside near the play area if it rains! This week’s theme is Globe Trotting and there will be princesses in attendance!

4. Where’s the Penguin? in Downtown Delaware

When: Saturday, July 1, 2017

Beginning July 1 through July 30, explore 25 downtown Delaware businesses in search of Penguin! Pick up a passport at Fundamentals Children’s Books, Toys and Games and start the hunt!

5. Worthington Hills Fourth of July

When: Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday, July 1, 2 & 4, 2017
Time: various times
Location: Worthington Hills

Worthington Hills celebrates the 4th of July with a Firecracker Trot, softball games, a Fun Fest that includes carnival games,  inflatables, a DJ, raffles and food trucks and a parade and fireworks on Tuesday!

6. Independence Day at Ohio Village

When: Saturday, July 1, 2017
Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: 800 E. 17th Ave., Columbus OH 43211

Enjoy old-fashioned family fun including a Grand Procession, music, dancing, an Ohio Village Muffins base ball game, ice cream making, crafts, games on the green and more! This event is included with admission or membership.

7. Family Day at Pizzuti Collection

When: Saturday, July 1, 2017
Time: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Admission is free all day for this event that includes tours of the exhibits, and an art inspired activity book! Tours take place at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM. See our visit here.

8. MAKEbreak at Michaels Stores

When: Saturday, July 1, 2017
Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Location: your local Michaels Store

Make a wearable art t-shirt, tote bag or shoes. Purchase of the apparel item is required but the supplies are free. Recommended for ages 3 and up.

9. Olentangy Summer Bash

When: Saturday, July 1, 2017
Time: 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Location: 675 Lewis Center Rd., Lewis Center, OH 43035

This free event features family friendly activities, entertainment, food and drink that will culminate in a fireworks display at 10:00 PM! Alex Angelo and Liberty Deep Down will headline and there will be a Family Fun Zone a Food Truck Festival and more!

10. Red White and Boom

When: Monday, July 3, 2017
Time: 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Location: Downtown Columbus

Ohio’s largest fireworks display is preceded by live music, a children’s park which includes inflatables, a bounce house, slides, an obstacle course, COSI on wheels, Columbus Blue Jackets Slap Shot, Face Painters and more! The parade begins at 6:00 PM at the Main St. Bridge. Fireworks begin at 10:00 PM!

11. Ballpark Boom at Huntington Park

When: Monday, July 3, 2017
Time: 5:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Location: 330 Huntington Park Ln., Columbus, OH 43215

If you’re heading down to Red, White and Boom, check out this family friendly event at Huntington Park which includes inflatables, a zipline, concessions and more! Live music includes the bands McGuffey Lane and Phil Dirt and the Dozers! They will play until 11:00 PM with a break for the fireworks! Admission is $5 and there is an additional cost for other activities.

12. City of Dublin Independence Day Celebration

When: Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Time: 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Location: various locations throughout Dublin

Dublin’s Independence Day celebration includes a fishing derby, parade, kids zone, food vendors, live music and fireworks! Anyone over the age of 4 must have a purchased wristband for entrance into the Evening Celebration. See wristband info here.

13. Upper Arlington 4th of July Parade and Party in the Park

When: Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Time: 9:00 AM

The Upper Arlington celebration includes a parade, Party in the Park at Northam Park and fireworks at 10:00 PM!

14. Olentangy 4th of July Parade

When: Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: 2840 E. Orange Rd., Lewis Center, OH 43035

This parade in Lewis center begins at Olentangy Orange High School at 10:00 AM or you can take place in the Freedom 4 Miler or kids fun run at 8:00 AM and stay for the parade!

15. July 4th Parade in Hilliard

When: Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: 5035 Northwest Pkwy., Hilliard, OH

Hilliard’s parade departs from the Franklin County Fairgrounds and ends at Memorial Middle School. The theme of this year’s parade is Home of the Free Because of the Brave. Parade awards are given at 6:00 PM at Hilliard’s Station Park.

16. The Gahanna Independence Day Celebration

When: Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Time: Parade begins at 10:30 AM
Location: various locations in Gahanna

Gahanna’s Independence Day celebration includes a parade, Creekside Family Day (which includes live music, food and family activities) and a fireworks display! See the link for all the times and details.

17. 4th of July in Delaware

When: Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Time: Parade begins at 3:00 PM
Location: various locations in Delaware

Delaware’s Independence Day events include a parade, outdoor concert and fireworks!

18. Grove City Independence Day Celebration

When: Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Time: 6:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Location: Grove City High School, 4665 Hoover Rd., Grove City, OH 43123

Grove City’s celebration of Independence Day includes live music, children’s activities including games, inflatables and rock climbing, concessions and fireworks! Parking lots open at 5:30 PM and the fireworks start at 9:50 PM.

19. 4th of July in Westerville

When: Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Time: 6:30 AM – 11:00 PM
Location: various locations in Westerville

Westerville’s 4th of July celebration includes a Run/Walk and Children’s Fun Run, a parade, live music, food trucks, a Kids Zone and fireworks! This year’s theme is “Home of the Free, Because of the Brave.”

20. Clintonville July 4th Celebration

When: Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Time: 7:30 AM – 11:00 PM
Location: 3901 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43214

Celebrate the 4th of July at Whetstone Park of Roses with a community breakfast, a Run/Walk, flag raising, pet parade, bike decorating contest, fishing derby, concessions and fireworks!
