Over 35 family friendly events happening this weekend in Columbus, Ohio!

FRIDAY

9:00 AM – Touch a Truck at Franklin County Engineer’s Office – get up close with community vehicles and equipment!

10:00 AM – Commons for Kids at Columbus Commons – As always, free carousel rides and bounce houses will be on site along with other activities! This is the last one of the summer and it promises to be big!

10:00 AM – Farm Days at COSI – Farm Days at COSI offers the chance to get up close to tractors, learn where food comes from, milk a fiberglass cow and more! Farm Days are August 8-12, 2018 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

10:30 AM – KidX Summer Series at Polaris Fashion Place – enjoy free activities outside by the fountains at Polaris! This week’s theme is Time for Tumble and Roll! See more about KidX here.

11:00 AM – Graeter’s Hilliard Grand Opening – a new Graeter’s opens in Hilliard on Friday and there will be free single dip sugar cones from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on a first come, first serve basis!

11:00 AM – From Book to Film at Gateway Film Center – watch a movie based on a book for free with your library card! This week’s movie is How to Train Your Dragon and there are showings at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM every day! See this and more in:  35 Free Things to do with Your Kids this Summer in Columbus!

5:00 PM – 2018 St. Cecilia Festival at St. Cecilia Catholic Church – the festival takes place Friday 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM and Saturday 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM. There will be rides, food, live entertainment, children games and more!

6:00 PM – Family Game Night at Cheryl’s Cookies – this free family event includes games like ring toss, corn hole, Jenga and more plus food, snacks and drinks! Proceeds benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

7:00 PM – The Main Event in Bexley – this week the Main Event features activities and the movie Trolls!

7:00 PM – Summer Sizzle Concert in Grove City Town Center – enjoy a free concert from The Moonbats!

8:30 PM – Preschoolers: Not So Scary Night Hike at Rocky Fork Metro Park – take a walk through the park as the sun sets!

9:00 PM – Movie in the Park at Stradley Park – watch the movie Wonder in the park!

9:00 PM – Movie in the Park – Paddington 2 at Thompson Park – watch a movie in the park to celebrate UA’s Centennial! Movie begins at dusk.

SATURDAY

 8:00 AM – National Bowling Day at Ten Pin Alley – to celebrate National Bowling Day, Ten Pin Alley is offering a free game + shoes per person from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Up to 6 people per lane. There will also be a special breakfast menu! No reservations will be taken.

9:00 AM – Groveport KidsFest 2018 in Groveport Park – this free event includes a Touch-a-Truck, Cops N’ Kids and a back to school festival! Bring a non-perishable food donation for Groveport Madison Human Needs.

10:00 AM – Saturday Morning Cartoons: Toys Edition at Gateway Film Center – watch classic cartoons on the big screen while eating a bowl of cereal! The theme is Toys!

10:00 AM – For Families: Ravine Rambling at Highbanks Nature Center – explore the ravine and look for wildlife!

10:00 AM – School Supply Giveaway & Community Day at Urban Oasis Community Events Center – this school supply giveaway includes free food and activities!

10:00 AM – Family Fun Day & Puppy Pool Party at Bentley’s Pet Stuff – enjoy good bags, face painting, carnival games, refreshments for pets and people, photo opps, door prizes and more! Fun for pups and families!

10:30 AM – August Grown-Up & Me Art: The Sea is Calling! at Art with Anna – make a sea-themed painting with your child! Ages 3 and up. $15/couple. $5 for an additional artist.

11:00 AM – PBJ & Jazz in Topiary Park – Enjoy a kid-friendly jazz concert in Topiary Park! Story time begins at 11:00 in the Main Library, the concert starts at 12:00 PM and there will be an art activity afterwards at 1:00 PM.

11:00 AM – Superhero Day at Easton Town Center – meet and greet your favorite super heroes, make your own mask and cape, enjoy live music, lightsaber demonstrations and more!

11:00 AM – Family Fun Day! at Vineyard Community Church – this is a free family event that includes face painting, water activities, bounce house, food and drinks and more!

4:00 PM – Summer in the 614 Festival – enjoy live music, family activities, games, food vendors and more! Music acts include The Shazzbots, Arch City Lights and John Schwab Part Band.

4:00 PM – 2018 St. Cecilia Festival at St. Cecilia Catholic Church – the festival takes place Friday 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM and Saturday 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM. There will be rides, food, live entertainment, children games and more!

6:00 PM – Flicks after Dark in Municipal Park – watch Little Giants in the park beginning at 9:00 PM! Before that there w ill be games, music, food trucks, animals and more!

7:00 PM – Summer Music Series at Franklin Park Conservatory – there are 3 concerts in this series, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday! This is a free concert that begins at 8:00 PM, but garden-inspired children’s activities will begin one hour before the concert!

8:30 PM – DDL Saturday Cinema-August in Downtown Lancaster – watch the movie Cars 3 in downtown Lancaster! Concessions will be available and there will be activities beginning 1 hour before the movie starts. This is a free event!

SUNDAY

10:00 AM – August Baby + Art: Buzzing Bumblebees at Art with Anna – make an art project with your baby or toddler! Prepare to get messy! Ages 6 months to 3 years old.

1:00 PM – Family Fun Day! at Young’s Jersey Dairy – Family Fun Day includes ice cream, mini golf, a driving range, crafts and more! Tickets available online.

1:30 PM – Cheap Skates at Chiller Ice Rinks – Sundays from 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM admission is $5 for all and kids 4 and under are free! Skate rental is $3 for those over 4. All locations.

2:00 PM – The Right Stuff at Studio 35 Cinema & Drafthouse – watch the space movie The Right Stuff, get your photo taken at an astronaut photo booth, take in a gallery show of Small Steps Are Giant Leaps and help raise money to send Columbus’ own Astronaut Harrison to Kennedy Space Center!

3:00 PM – Back to School Kickoff at Mt Hermon Baptist Church – enjoy bouncy houses, free haircuts for boys, a community water balloon fight, school supplies and more!

3:30 PM – August Family Paint Class: Sunset + Palms at Art with Anna – create a painting with your family! Perfect for ages 6 and up. $15/artist.

7:00 PM – Summer Concert Series at Hilliard’s Station Park – enjoy a free, family friendly concert featuring Back to School Bash!
