Looking for something fun to do this weekend in Columbus? Try out one of these family-friendly Columbus and Ohiobased events and activities!

1. Through Monday: Show New Americans They Belong with Seeds of Caring 

Right now, there are families arriving in Columbus who have traveled long and far to find a new home. We think everyone deserves to feel welcome where they live and you can help! There is still time to join us for this Anywhere Project benefiting those served by Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS), packing Welcome Kits while learning about empathy and creating a more inclusive community. Group-friendly = a great neighborhood service project! (Thru 8/29)

2. 27th Annual Columbus Egyptian Festival

This weekend visit St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church for the 27th Annual Egyptian Festival. This event runs Friday August 26th through Sunday August 28th. Children’s activities, games, authentic Egyptian food & pastries, henna drawings and much more! 

3. Friday Storytime! At Blendon Woods Metro Park

Friday August 26th at 10am visit Blendon Woods Metro Park for stories, songs and fun activities. This event is intended for ages 2-5.

4. National Dog Day Hike At Blacklick Woods Metro Park

Friday August 26th at 3pm bring your furry friends to Blacklick Woods Metro Park for a 2-mile hike.

5. 4th Friday In Uptown Westerville

Friday August 26th at 6pm visit Uptown Westerville for an evening of entertainment, food trucks, pop up vendors and all of your favorite Uptown establishments. This street festival is a great way to start the weekend!

6. Campfire And Astronomy At Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

Friday August 26th at 8pm visit Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park for an evening of sitting around the campfire and searching the skies for constellations. Feel free to bring your blankets or chairs to kick back, relax and learn all about some popular summer constellations.

7. Columbus Fiery Foods Festival At Bicentennial Park

Saturday August 27th and Sunday August 28th visit Bicentennial Park for entertainment, food trucks, vendors and plenty of spicy foods. Exhibitors from around the country will all be here to showcase their fiery foods. See link for details on times and line up of entertainment.

8. Grove City YMCA Expo And Family Fun Day

Saturday August 27th starting at 10am head out to the YMCA in Grove City for a day of family fun! Touch-A-Truck, horseback riding, canoeing and fishing are all here! This event is free for all to attend.

9. WAG! Fest 2022 At Prairie Oaks Metro Park

Saturday August 27th starting at 10am visit Prairie Oaks Metro Park for WAG! Fest 2022, bring your canine companion for this great day of fun for the family and your furry friend. Let your dog enjoy the water and beach, cool off in the ice castle, meet pets up for adoption, see talented pooches take on agility performances and much more!

10. Author Andrea Hall With Cover To Cover At Upper Arlington Public Library

Saturday August 27th at 11am visit Tremont Library for a meet and greet featuring author Andrea Hall. Her latest book She’s On The Money will be featured

11. Family Creeking At Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

Saturday August 27th at 1pm visit Battelle Darby Creek for an afternoon of creeking as a family. Catch fish, bugs and crawdads in Big Darby Creek! Wear appropriate clothing to get wet and messy.

12. Wildlife Myths At Blendon Woods Metro Park 

Saturday August 27th at 2pm visit Blendon Woods for a 1.5-mile hike where you will learn about myths vs. facts about our wildlife.

13. Play Music On The Porch Day In Westgate

Saturday August 27th starting at 5pm visit the Westgate neighborhood where you can enjoy neighbors playing music on the porch for Music On The Porch Day! Bring your blanket and enjoy the tunes!

14. International Bat Night At Blacklick Woods Metro Park

Saturday August 27th at 8pm visit Blacklick Woods Metro Park for a 2-mile hike and learn about the bats of the city.

15. Fall/Winter Kids Clothing and Equipment Sale at Resolute Athletic Complex

The Columbus Mothers of Twins club is holding their semi-annual sale of baby, child, tween, junior, maternity, equipment and furniture items! It takes place on Sunday from 8am-11pm. You can shop at 7am with a $2 donation! No strollers or wagons permitted.

16. Movie Night! Spiderman: No Way Home At Blendon Woods Natural Play Area

Saturday August 27th at 8:30pm visit Blendon Woods for an evening of a screening of Spiderman: No Way Home at Blendon Woods.

17. Butterfly Hike At Blendon Woods

Sunday August 28th at 11am visit Blendon Woods for a morning of exploring the fields and searching for butterflies.

18. Broom Making At Slate Run Metro Park

Sunday August 28th at 1pm visit Slate Run Metro Park and help clean broom corn. Then  watch how a broom is made from it!

19. STEM @ The Park With The Works At Infirmary Mound Park

Sunday August 28th starting at 1pm visit Infirmary Mound Park for an afternoon of STEM activities and experiments for the whole family to enjoy. This event is free, but registration is required. See link for details.

20. Off-Trail River Walk To The Giant Sycamore At Highbanks Metro Park

Sunday August 28th  at 2pm visit Highbanks Metro Park for a 1.5 mile hike to the giant sycamore tree. Waterproof closed toed shoes are recommended. Feel free to bring your nets and buckets to explore the water as you go.

21. Bison At Battelle Darby Creek 

Sunday August 28th at 3pm visit Battelle Darby Creek for a 1-mile hike where you will learn about bison, a 2,000 pound mammal.

22. Metro Parks Hiking Club At Blendon Woods Metro Park 

Sunday August 28th at 7pm visit Blendon Woods Metro Park for an evening with other hikers as you take on a 2-mile trek through the woods.
