What Should We Do This Weekend? Columbus, Ohio, June 12-14, 2020

Need something to do with the kids this weekend? Try out one of these 12 Columbus and Ohiobased activities with your family this weekend!

12 Family Friendly Things to do this Weekend in Columbus, Ohio:

1. The Turtle Lady Visits Athens County Public Libraries

As part of this year’s Summer Reading Club, the Athens County Public Libraries system has featured The Turtle Lady for one of their events and you can watch the video on FB Live!

 

2. Cinema Under the Stars at Polaris Fashion Place

Drive in movies will take place this weekend at Polaris Fashion Place in the JCPenney parking lot. The movies are free but you can reserve your ticket online. Different movies will be shown each night June 10-13th. Click the link for the line up.

3. Easton Sunset Series Drive-In at Easton Town Center

Drive in movies will be shown in the newest easton development east of Nordstrom’s parking lot. They will take place every night and you must purchase your ticket in advance! Cost is $10 per car. Movies for this weekend will be announced soon.

4. Parking Lot Cinema at the Marcus Pickerington Cinema

For seven days a week, Marcus Cinema Pickerington will be offering drive-in movies on the north side of their building. You can listen to the audio through your radio. Tickets and concessions are available in advance online. The food will be in a designated pick up area. Cash purchases will not be an option on site. There will be two movies night, the first one starting at 9:15 PM. Friday June 12 will begin The Goonies and Twister. Movies will change each Friday for the coming week. Cost is $25 per car during the week and $30 per car Friday through Sunday. 

5. Columbus Arts Fest in Place

Arts Fest in Place will take place online (June 12-14) this year since the traditional Columbus Arts Festival has been cancelled. You can shop online, listen to music, create chalk art and watch interviews and performances live throughout the weekend.

6. Food Truck Fridays at the House at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio

Food Truck Fridays are back and this year you will be able to order online ahead of time and pick up your food at the trucks. A portion of the proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio. This Friday will feature Pitabilities, Tortilla Street and J-Pops and you can pick up your food between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

7. Zoom! June Grown-Up & Me // Pop, You’re the Best at Art with Anna

Art with Anna is offering at home Zoom art classes! You will receive an ID and Password with registration. The one takes place on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Check her Facebook page for even more upcoming classes!

8. Kayaking and Ice Cream at Alum Creek Lake

This Saturday from 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM learn the basics of kayaking and then stop off at Sticky Fingers for a free double scoop of ice cream (with ticket purchase). Anyone under 12 needs to be accompanied by an adult. 

9. Read with the Horses (Virtual Event) with Stockhands Horses For Healing

This is a virtual event where kids can read with horses at 1:00 PM on Saturday. Check the Facebook page and the YouTube channel to watch the video! 

10. Open Barn Days 2020 at Sunrise Sanctuary

Each month Sunrise Sanctuary opens for visitors to meet the resident animals. They will be open this Saturday at 1:00 PM. They are asking visitors to purchase tickets in advance in order to ensure a safe experience. Children under 3 are free.

11. Pride of Ohio Drive-In Movie at Ohio History Center

This Saturday, Ohio History Center will begin their summer series of Stephen Spielberg movies. (Spielberg was born in Ohio!). There will be 3 movies this summer and they will be held in a drive-in style in the parking lot! The movies are free, but you must register in advance. There are two movie times for each date, 4:30 PM and 8:30 PM. Snack packs are also available for purchase. This Saturday’s movie is Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

12. Drive-Thru Food Truck Rally at MAPFRE Stadium

On Sunday from 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM celebrate 614 Day with a drive-thru food truck and brew rally. Pre-order online and pick your food at a preset time.
