Family-Friendly Things to do in Columbus, Ohio This Weekend:

1. Blooms and Butterflies at Franklin Park Conservatory

Visit the Pacific Island Water Garden between now and July 6th to walk amongst the butterflies! You can also view butterflies emerging from their chrysalises in the Metamorphosis Lab. This activity is available during regular hours (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM) and is included in admission.

2. Build the Thrill Event at LEGOLAND®

From March 6 – April 27 visitors can create the ultimate race car and beat the clock in an awesome race during the Build the Thrill Event. There will be building challenges, special scenes in MINILAND and special activities and photo ops!

3. Extended Hours at COSI

COSI has extended hours for Spring Break! They will be open every day from March 16-April 6, 2025. Regular hours are 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. On the weekends, March 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29 they will be open from 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM. Plan your visit to COSI with this blog post!

4. Aladdin Shrine Circus at the Celeste Center

The Aladdin Shrine Circus will take place March 20-23 at the Ohio Expo Center. Performance times are Thursday at Friday at 7:00 PM, Saturday at 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM, and Sunday 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. (Thursday night tickets are at a special price of $18 per seat.) Tickets are available online.

5. Spring Art Breaks at Columbus Museum of Art

Use provided materials to create art at the My CMA Studio on Friday between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM at Columbus Museum of Art. This studio time is open to all ages and is included in admission.

6. Photos with the Bunny at Polaris Fashion Place

Photos with the Bunny begin on Friday, March 21 and run through April 19th at Polaris Fashion Place! Book your reservation online and receive a complimentary gift. Walk-ups are also welcome. This year’s theme is Alice in Wonderland. All kids that visit the Bunny will receive a coupon good for 1 free small gelato at I Scream Gelato at Polaris Fashion Place.

7. Family Art: Oil Pastels at Westerville Public Library

Families can create a piece of art with oil pastels! Come dressed to make a mess on Friday at 2:00 PM. Recommended for ages 2-11 and their caregivers.

8. Opening Day at Olentangy Caverns

On Saturday, Olentangy Caverns will celebrate Opening Weekend and 90 years with food trucks, free indoor arts and crafts for kids and free balloon twisting with Erica Carlson. Hours will be 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM.

9. Storytime with Author Kellie DuBay Gillis at Cover to Cover

Join Ohio author Kellie DuBay Gillis for a storytime at Cover to Cover on Saturday at 10:00 AM in celebration of her two new picture books If You Find a Fawn and Big Bike, Little Bike!

10. March Story Hour at The Bibliophile Candle Co.

Enjoy stories and fun for little book lovers at The Bibliophile Candle Co. on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM.

11. Sustainable Seed Starting at Gallant Farm

All ages are welcome to attend this event at Gallant Farm on Saturday from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM where they can learn how to start seeds sustainably indoors and take home potted seeds of their choice.

12. Urban Strings Ensemble Presents Music of Women

Urban Strings Youth Ensembles will perform music from women composers and arrangers at the Whitehall Branch of CML on Saturday at 2:00 PM.

13. Welcome to Spring Event at Highbanks Nature Center

Stop by the Nature Center at Highbanks Metro Park between 3:00 PM – and 5:00 PM on Saturday to enjoy spring crafts and games including a scavenger hunt, a campfire and s’mores.

14. For Kids: Nature Journals at Blacklick Woods Metro Park

Kids will make a journal and learn how to use it to enrich their time in nature at Blacklick Woods on Saturday at 3:00 PM. Recommended for ages 8-14.

15. Art & The Artist at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

Watch ambasador animals make art at the Nature Center at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park on Sunday from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM.

16. Pokémon Club at Northwest Library

Kids ages 6-11 can trade Pokémon cards and enjoy crafts and games on Sunday at 2:00 PM at the Northwest Library.
