Family-Friendly Events this Weekend in Columbus:
1. Dinosaurs in Motion at National Museum of the U.S. Air Force
Dinosaurs in Motion is on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force every day from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM through May 13, 2024. Admission is free to the museum and this exhibit is included! Visitors can control 14 giant, metal dinosaur sculptures! (See more things to do in the Dayton area!)
2. Blooms and Butterflies at Franklin Park Conservatory
Blooms and Butterflies is open at Franklin Park Conservatory! You can walk through the Pacific Island Water Garden to see free-flying butterflies. Check out the Metamorphosis Lab to see new butterflies emerge from their chrysalis. Daily hours are 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
3. Cheer on Special Olympics Athletes with Seeds of Caring
In this free and fun Anywhere Project, kids 2-12 will learn about the importance of inclusion through a video and age-appropriate discussion. Then helping hands will pack Good Luck Kits and decorate cheer cards to encourage Special Olympics Ohio athletes on competition day. Families and groups can participate any time through March 25.
4. Columbus Pet Expo at Ohio Expo Center
The Pet Expo takes place March 8-10 and includes live performances, exhibitors, K-9 games, an animal farm, wiener dog races and more!
5. Columbus Symphony Quartet at Westerville Public Library
Enjoy a performance by 4 members of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra on Friday at 10:30 AM. All ages are welcome but caregivers must remain in the room with kids under age 8.
6. All About Knots at Quarry Trails Metro Park
Learn how to tie 5 different kinds of knots at Quarry Trails Metro Park on Friday from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
7. Princess Pajama Party at Paulette’s Princess Parties
Wear your pajamas and wake up the sleeping princesses at this pajama party on Friday at 6:00 PM. Enjoy songs, dancing, crafts and more. Register online.
8. Riverside Crossing Park Ice Rink
This temporary ice rink is right near the Dublin Link pedestrian bridge and will be open for skating on Friday nights and on Saturday and Sunday! This rink will be up through mid-March.
9. Paint a Picture, Stitch a String at CCT Studios
This performance was devised by 7 high school students and features scenes of human connection over the centuries. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Show times are available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
10. Friday Night Family GLOW Skate at Skate Zone 71
Families can enjoy laster tag games and a family meal deal on Friday night from 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM. Glow sticks will be available to purchase.
11. St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin, Ohio with a Pancake Breakfast, Inflation Celebration and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade! The festivities begin at 7:00 AM on Saturday!
12. Tiny Tot Little Rollers Saturday Skating at Skate Zone 71
Kids age 10 and under can learn to skate from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Saturday at Skate Zone 71. Toddler skates are available. The skate lesson is $5.50 and then you can stay for a skate session afterwards for an additional cost.
13. Hilltop Hop
Visit the businesses at Broad & Westmoor for art displays, local vendors, and special events at each business on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM!
14. Founder’s Day Weekend at Pyramid Hill
Admission to Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum is offering free admission on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend includes a family scavenger hunt, sculpture tours, and more!
15. Super Saturdays at Main Library
On Saturday from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM enjoy special programming at the Main Library in Downtown Columbus featuring Space and the Solar System! Activities include an inflatable Explorer Dome, and an Ohioans in Space exhibit. Registration recommended for the Explorer Dome.
16. NEA Big Read Art Day at Pickerington Public LIbrary
This event includes a presentation from Art Possible Ohio and art-to-go kits from Art & Clay. This event is great for tweens and up and it takes place on Saturday at 11:00 AM.
17. Black Joy Film Series: “The Princess and the Frog” at McConnell Arts Center
Watch a free screening of The Princess and the Frog at McConnell Arts Center in Worthington on Saturday at 2:00 PM. Reservations are required and no-show seats will be released at 2:00 PM.
18. Signs of Spring at Blacklick Woods Metro Park
Take a 1.25 mile hike to look for early signs of spring in the Walter Tucker Nature Preserve on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
19. Amphibian Search at Rocky Fork Metro Park
Take a 1.5 mile hike to look for spring amphibians at Rocky Fork Metro Park on Sunday at 2:00 PM.
20. Sunset Hike at Blacklick Woods Metro Park
Take a 2-mile hike at sunset and look for colorful things! This hike takes place at 7:00 PM on Sunday. All ages and leashed pets are welcome.
