Looking for something fun to do this weekend in Columbus? Try out one of these family-friendly Columbus and Ohio–based events and activities!
1. Baby & Me Tour at Columbus Museum of Art
This event includes a multi-sensory gallery experience for caregivers and kids 2 and under. Play and explore together on Friday from 10:30 AM – 11:15 AM. Registration is free for members and $20 for nonmembers (includes admission). Register online.
2. Día de los Muertos at the Wex
This all-ages celebration will include free refreshments, ofrendas, a book launch, a comic-making station, live performances and more. This free event takes place on Friday beginning at 4:00 PM.
3. Pumpkin Roll at Quarry Trails Metro Park
Roll your pumpkin down the sledding hill at Quarry Trails Metro Park to see whose can go the furthest! Treats and games will be provided! This event takes place from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM on Friday. Registration is required.
4. Alice by Heart at Westerville South Auditorium
Westerville South High School presents Alice by Heart on November 1 & 2 at 7:00 PM and November 3rd at 2:00 PM. The November 3rd show will have ASL interpretation. This musical is 90 minutes with no intermission. 17 people taking shelter in the Underground during WW2 in London take a journey “down the hole” where they learn lessons, face life’s truths and find a place to escape to during the blitz.
5. Book Sale at Old Worthington Library
Shop for gently used books at the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries Book Sale in the Owl Meeting Room at the Old Worthington Libary. The sale takes place on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
6. National Bison Day at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park
Learn all about bison at Battelle Darby Creek Nature Center on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Do a craft and then take a short hike to see the bison in the pasture! Ages 5 and up.
7. Family Storytime at Westerville Public Library
On Saturday at 10:00 AM enjoy a family storytime at Westerville Public Library perfect for ages 0-5 (siblings welcome). There will be a story, movement rhymes and action songs.
8. An Afternoon with Author Tamara Bundy at Cover to Cover
Join author Tamra Bundy in celebration of her new middle reader book Like Nesting Dolls. She will be joined by special guest Irina Berberich who spent the first six years of her life in a Russian orphanage. This event takes place on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
9. National Veterans Memorial and Museum at the South High Library
Kids can learn about the use of “Dog Tags” from the Civil War to present day. They will get to design a dog tag to take home on Saturday at 2:00 PM. Recommended for ages 7-17.
10. Forts, Fire & Fun at Blacklick Woods
Roast marshmallows, do a craft and then build a fort in the Natural Play Area on Saturday from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Blacklick Woods Metro Park.
11. CMA Community Days: Día de los Muertos at Columbus Museum of Art
Admission to Columbus Museum of Art is free on Sunday from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM and there will be activities celebrating the history of Día de los Muertos including a community ofrenda, performances, art projects, food and more.
12. Community Day at Franklin Park Conservatory
Residents of Columbus and Franklin County receive free General Admission to Franklin Park Conservatory on Sunday from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Identification is required. Sunday’s theme is Health and Wellness and there will be local organizations on site with info for families.
13. Olympic & Paralympic Celebration at Ohio Statehouse
On Sunday from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, join Olympians and Paralympians at the Ohio Statehouse for a Q&A panel, a Meet and Greet, autograph booklets, a performance by East High Marching Band and Drill Team, and more!
14. Battelle Darby Creek Tram Rides
Take a 45-minute tram ride to explore Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park. You must register for this event at the link above. There are times available on Sunday at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
15. Columbus Children’s Theatre Presents: Robin Hood at Main Library
Columbus Children’s Theatre will present a special performance of Robin Hood at the Main Library on Sunday from 2:000 PM – 2:45 PM. This is a free event. No registration required.
16. Calling all Kind Kids: FALL into service with Seeds of Caring
Through November 24, kids ages 2-12 can make a difference in our community with this free service project from Seeds of Caring! Kids will learn about food insecurity through a video and age-appropriate discussion. Then, helping hands will pack a healthy meal kit that will be distributed by Lutheran Social Services Faith Mission.
