Family-Friendly Things to do this Weekend in Columbus, Ohio:

1. Sock Skating at Main Library

Take off your skates and “sock skate” on a synthetic ice rink at the Main Library! While you’re there, check out historic skating memorabilia in preparation for the U.S. Figure Skating Championship coming to Columbus this month! This activity is available every day during regular business hours at the library.

2. Riverside Crossing Park Ice Rink

This temporary ice rink is right near the Dublin Link pedestrian bridge and will be open for skating on Friday nights and on Saturday and Sunday! This rink will be up through mid-March.

3. Preschool: Winter Dance at Blendon Woods Metro Park

Learn about foxes and wildlife with stories, a craft and activities. The program will end with a winter walk. Event begins on Friday at 10:00 AM at Blendon Woods.

4. Jurassic Quest at Ohio Expo Center

Walk through a larger-than-life dinosaur display, excavate fossils, train a raptor and more at Jurassic Quest this weekend. Dates are Friday, January 19 through Sunday, January 21. Tickets are available online.

5. Sunset and S’mores at Quarry Trails Metro Park

On Friday from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Quarry Trails, enjoy watching the sunset while eating a s’more! There will be a campfire and all s’more-making equipment will be provided!

6. Family Night at Worthington Community Center

Enjoy a family-friendly program at the Worthington Community Center on Friday night from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM that includes crafts, open gym and more! This week’s theme is National Popcorn Day. This is a free program but families are encouraged to pre-register.

7. Winter Hike at Scioto Audubon Metro Park

Hike any trail at the Scioto Audubon Metro Park and enjoy refreshments between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Saturday. Get your Winter Hike card stamped and hike 7 parks this winter to earn a patch.

8. Baby Shark Storytime at Westerville Public Library

Listen to shark stories, make puppets and dance along to Baby Shark on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM.

9. Open Studio at Columbus Museum of Art

Open Studio is open every Saturday from 10:30 AM–3:30 PM at Columbus Museum of Art and is included with admission or membership. January’s theme is Transformations. Visitors think like artists and experiment with different materials and art supplies. All ages welcome.

10. Hawaiian Luau at Franklin Park Conservatory

Visit the Orchids exhibition and at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Saturday watch the Manivic’s Dance Company perform a traditional Hawaiian hula dance. Kids can learn the dance and make a tropical flower craft. Included in admission or membership.

11. Blacklick Woods Frozen Experience

Enjoy a Frozen Celebration at Blacklick Woods Metro Park, which will be turned into the town of Arendelle! Build a snowman craft, do a scavenger hunt and more on Saturday from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Nature Center.

12. Kids Slime Making. & Acrylic Paint Pour Class at Terra Gallery

This class on Saturday at 1:00 PM is for all ages and will include slime making and acrylic paint pouring. Be prepared to get messy! Reserve your spot online!

13. For Kids: Fort Building at Sharon Woods Metro Park

Enjoy a fun and muddy adventure off-trail at Sharon Woods Metro Park on Saturday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Kids can create forts with natural items. Meet at the Natural Play Area.

14. Music Series at Gahanna Library

Enjoy a performance by the Nacho Saxadillas at the Gahanna Branch of CML. They will play a variety of genres featuring 4 types of saxophones on Saturday from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM.

15. Hilliard Sunday Concert Series at Hilliard Library

Enjoy a women’s barbershop quartet called Four Harmony’s Sake on Sunday from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Hilliard Branch of CML.
