Over 35 family-friendly events happening around Columbus this weekend!

FRIDAY

9:00 AM – Lancaster Festival – this festival goes on from July 19-28, 2018 and includes kid-friendly performances, many are free! Saturday is the last day of this event!

9:00 AM – The Ohio State Fair – gates open on Wednesday for the 2018 Ohio State Fair! See all your favorite exhibits, eat fried food on a stick, ride rides and watch shows! Click here to see all the attractions!

9:00 AM – First day for U-Pick Peaches at Branstool Orchards – Friday is the first day you can pick delicious peaches at Branstool Orchards! Read all about our visit to Branstool Orchards!

10:00 AM – Children’s Book Club! with FIT4MOM at Hannah Park – join FIT4MOM Columbus East for a book swap and bookmark making!

10:00 AM – Kids Film Series at Drexel Theatre – watch The Secret World of Arrietty, rated G, all weekend! Friday and Saturday at 10:00 AM and Sunday at 2:00 PM. Kids up to age 12 are $1 and 13 and over are $3. Tupelo donuts will be on site on Saturday morning!

10:00 AM – Commons for Kids at Columbus Commons – this week’s theme is Ohio State Day! As always, free carousel rides and bounce houses will be on site along with other activities!

10:30 AM – KidX Summer Series at Polaris Fashion Place – enjoy free activities outside by the fountains at Polaris! This week’s theme is Circus! See more about KidX here.

11:00 AM – From Book to Film at Gateway Film Center – watch a movie based on a book for free with your library card! This week’s movie is The Hunger Games and there are showings at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM every day!

5:00 PM – Family Friday Night at COSI – COSI stays open late with special pricing until 9:00 PM!

6:00 PM – Mount Carmel St. Ann’s 4th Friday in Uptown Westerville – this month’s 4th Friday celebration is World Bazaar and will feature customs, cultures and cuisines from around the world!

6:00 PM – Creekside Live: Willie Phoenix Band w/ Eric Jerardi Trio at Creekside Gahanna – enjoy live music beginning at 6:00 PM with the Eric Jerardi Trio and The Willie Phoenix Band at 7:30 PM.

6:00 PM – MusicBASH: The Muleskinners at Slate Run Metro Park and Living Historical Farm – enjoy a bluegrass concert at the park! Bring a chair!

6:00 PM – Grove City Homecoming Celebration in Grove City Town Center – celebrate Grove City’s 29th Homecoming Celebration with live entertainment, food trucks, concessions and watch a corn hole tournament from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

7:00 PM – Disney’s Tarzan at Westerville Parks and Recreation Civic Theatre – watch performances of Disney’s Tarzan on Thursday and Friday at 7:00 PM, Saturday at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM and Sunday at 3:00 PM at Westerville Central High School!

8:00 PM – Movie Under the Stars: The Birds at Deer Haven Preserve – watch The Birds outside on the big screen. This movie is rated PG13 but there will be kid-friendly activities beforehand beginning at 8:00 PM. Movie starts at 9:00 PM.

8:30 PM – Friday Night Flicks: The Incredibles at Sycamore Park Amphitheater – this week’s movie is The Incredibles and it will be shown at dusk! Bring a blanket and/or chairs.

9:00 PM – Movie in the Park – Monsters Inc. at Thompson Park – McCoy Road – this week’s movie is Monster’s Inc! Bring your own blanket and/or chairs.

9:00 PM – Full Moon Canoe Float at Scioto Grove Metro Park – float down the Scioto River in the moonlight! Ages 8 and up.

SATURDAY

8:00 AM – Summer Bird Walk at Blues Creek Park – take a bird walk to look for birds in the park! This is free and binoculars will be provided. Appropriate for ages 7 and up.

9:00 AM – All Disabilities Fest at Genoa Park – this festival is open to the whole family and includes activities from COSI, live music and food trucks!

9:30 AM – Youth Fishing Derby at Sycamore Creek Park Pond – register by Thursday for this annual fishing derby including prizes in various age categories. This is free but you must bring your own equipment.

10:00 AM – HOOT 89: Bugs at Gateway Film Center – enjoy family friendly short films, lobby activities and live music from the Shazzbots! Films are rated G and geared toward ages 1-8. Entrance is free with a canned good donation to the Open Shelter.

10:00 AM – Grove City Grand Re-Opening at Once Upon A Child Grove City – check out what’s new at Once Upon a Child in Grove City! They are celebrating with sales, face painting, a balloon artist, and the first 50 guests in line get a $10 gift card to OUAC. There will also be raffle prizes including bikes, tickets to Kings Island, the Zoo and more!

11:00 AM- Guest Storytime with Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn at Westerville Public Library – this free story time features a story read by the owner of Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn, a craft or activity and refreshments! 

11:00 AM – Grand Opening Celebration at The Learning Experience (New Albany) – this is a free event including a bounce house, face painting, balloon animals, treats and more! There will also be a self-care class from FIT4MOM!

11:00 AM – Summer Reading Carnival at Marysville Public Library – celebrate the end of the Summer Reading Program with a carnival including games and prizes!

1:00 PM – 2nd Anniversary Open House at Fresh Start Cafe And Bakery – celebrate the 2nd anniversary of Fresh Start Cafe between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM with a free mini cupcake and $2 drink specials! 1:00 PM – Art on West Park on West Park Ave – the Franklinton Arts District is hosting an art-themed block party that features art by Franklinton artists, activities for children, a sprinkler and snacks!

2:00 PM – Whitehall Food Truck Festival and Fun Fest in Whitehall – the Whitehall Food Truck and Fun Fest takes place from 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM and includes live music throughout the day and other fun activities!

4:00 PM – Delaware Pacer Bands Food Truck Festival at the Delaware County Fairgrounds – this food truck festival includes live music, face painting, and several food trucks!

4:00 PM – Lewis Center Grand Opening at Goldfish Swim School – celebrate the Grand Opening of the newest location of Goldfish Swim School! There will be an open family swim, giveaways, snacks, activities, an appearance from Ariel and more! This is a free event!

5:00 PM – The Grandview Hop – July 2018 on Grandview Avenue – enjoy a sidewalk market with live music, shopping, art, food trucks, a pop up beer garden and activities for all ages! This week enjoy kid friendly music from Musicologie and the Cousins Maine Lobster truck, among others!

5:30 PM – Creeking and Campfire at Three Creeks Metro Park – take a half mile hike to the creek, search for critters in the creek and then roast hot dogs and marshmallows around the fire.

8:00 PM – Picnic With The Pops – OSU Marching Band at Columbus Commons – OSU Marching Band fans will enjoy the “biggest tailgate party of the year” with TBDBITL and fireworks!

9:00 PM – Summer Stargazing at Glacier Ridge Metro Park – use telescopes and binoculars to look at stars and planets.

SUNDAY

10:00 AM – FIT4MOM Friends & Family Day at FrontRunner at FrontRunner – join FIT4MOM Central Ohio for a special shopping and fitting event. Save 20%!

1:30 PM – Cheap Skates at Chiller Ice Rinks – Sundays from 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM admission is $5 for all and kids 4 and under are free! Skate rental is $3 for those over 4. All locations.

7:00 PM – Concerts on the Green at the Worthington Village Green – concerts begin at 7:00 PM. This week’s band is The Floorwalkers!

Over 30 family-friendly events happening in Columbus, Ohio this weekend!

FRIDAY

6:00 AM – Dino-Mite Kids Week at Sunny Street Cafe – July 16-20, 2018 get one free dinosaur shaped pancake with the purchase of each adult entree for kids 10 and under! There will also be dinosaur themed activities and giveaways! Read about our visit to Dino-Mite Kids Week here!

9:00 AM – Lancaster Festival – this festival goes on from July 19-28, 2018 and includes kid-friendly performances, many are free! This Saturday is Festival Fair Day with visits from The Turtle Lady and COSI, inflatables, animals, sand sculpting, train rides and more!

10:00 AM – Commons for Kids at Columbus Commons –  as always, free carousel rides and bounce houses will be on site along with other activities like Ohio Fit Club, Columbus Folk Music Society, Pretty as a Princess and more!

10:00 AM – Forest Fridays at Sunbury Urban Farm – enjoy a 30 minute nature activity plus free play time in the woods. Ideal for ages 2-5. Free, but donations are accepted.

10:00 AM – Westerville’s Touch A Truck at Westerville Sports Complex – get up close to fire trucks, police cars, construction vehicles and more!

10:00 AM – Hilliard Library Concert at Hilliard Library – join Miss Marlene in a special concert to celebrate the Summer Reading Program. There will also be a concert at 11:00 AM. This event is free.

10:00 AM – Summertime Sweets! with FIT4MOM at Highbanks Metro Park – join FIT4MOM Columbus North for a workout and playdate. Your first workout is free. After this class there will be popsicles!

10:30 AM – KidX Summer Series at Polaris Fashion Place – enjoy free activities outside by the fountains at Polaris! This week’s theme is Animals and Nature! See more about KidX here.

11:00 AM – Jazz and Rib Fest – the annual Jazz and Rib Fest takes place in Genoa and Bicentennial Parks on Friday and Saturday from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM and Sunday from 11:00 AM – 8:30 PM. There are live jazz performances, food, activities and vendors!

12:00 PM – Columbus Zoo Animals at Experience Columbus – come visit with animals from the Columbus Zoo at the Experience Columbus location in the Arena District. This is a free event.

5:00 PM – $5 Friday Pony Rides at Horse -N- Round Fun – from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM children and adults can ride a horse for $5.

6:00 PM – St. Matthew Parish Festival – this festival is happening Thursday through Saturday and features rides, live music, food and games!

6:00 PM – Sprouts Night Out at Hilliard’s Station Park – enjoy food trucks, live music, animals from Bring the Farm to You and a Dr. Awesome Bubble Show in downtown Hilliard!

7:00 PM – Folk Songs around the Fire at Gallant Farm Park – bring an instrument or your voice to sing around the fire. All ages welcome. Free.

8:30 PM – Save the Bats at Blendon Woods Metropolitan Park – drop into the Nature Center to learn about bats and learn about bat conservation.

8:30 PM – Movie in the Park: Despicable Me 3 at Westgate Park – watch Despicable Me 3 in Westgate Park. In case of rain the movie will be held in Westgate Rec Center.

8:30 PM – Friday Night Flicks: Cars 3 at Sycamore Park Amphitheater – watch the movie Cars 3 beginning at dusk.

SATURDAY

7:00 AM – Delaware Classic Car Show in Delaware, Ohio – check out the 2018 Performance Classic Car Show in downtown Delaware. (Check out the Cruise Friday night at 6:00 PM as well!)

9:00 AM – Westgate Farmers Market at the West Gate Masonic Lodge – enjoy local vendors, produce, live music and fun for kids. This weekend there will be a small petting zoo and The Little Kitchen food truck.

9:00 AM – Lynd Handcrafted Affair ’18 at at the Market on Morse – free admission and parking is available for this event featuring local artisans, food trucks and locally grown produce. There will also be live music.

9:00 AM – Market Sprouts at the Worthington Farmers Market – kids can enjoy a seasonally focused activity at the information table at the Worthington Farmers Market on the 3rd Saturdays of each month. Appropriate for ages 12 and under.

9:00 AM – Cops and Kids Day at the Franklin County Fair – check out police vehicles and equipment plus there will be door prizes and a raffle for two kids bicycles.

10:00 AM – Not A Comic Con at Packrat Comics – enjoy this free, local version of Comic Con featuring Nicholas Brendon of Buffy and the Vampire a free graphic novel for the first 50 people in line and the first 100 people get swag bags!

10:00 AM – Engine Extravaganza at Tanger Outlets, Columbus – kids can get up close to emergency vehicles and trucks! Plus enjoy shopping savings from Tanger Outlets.

1:00 PM – Garden Seek & Snack Family Event at Sunbury Urban Farm- search for items using your 5 senses and then taste items grown in the garden! $10/kid ages 2 and older. Register online.

1:00 PM – Musical Canvas Art at Michaels Stores – kids ages 3 and up can paint a music-inspired canvas. Purchase of the canvas is required. Paining supplies are provided.

7:00 PM – Demo Derby by Smash It! at Franklin County Fair-Hilliard, Ohio – watch a live demolition derby at the Franklin County Fair.

9:00 PM – Movie Series – COCO at Glacier Ridge Metro Park – watch the movie Coco outside at the park!

SUNDAY

11:00 AM – Sunday Family Fun Day at The Draft Room – enjoy crafts for the kids and drink specials for the grown ups! Broke Johnny Food Truck will be on site as well!

10:00 AM –The Science of Big Machines at COSI – Big Machines will be at COSI from June 16-24, 2018, every day from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Kids can climb up and get behind the wheel of bulldozers, dump trucks and more! Try out various construction activities and meet real life engineers! Included in admission or membership.

10:00 AM – Commons for Kids at Columbus Commons – enjoy inflatables, free carousel rides, music with Columbus Folk Music Society, a free puppet show, balloon animals, planting vegetables with Lowe’s and more!

10:00 AM – Dublin Wet Suits and Way-Cool Trucks – at Dublin Community Recreation Parking Lot – tour Sparky’s fire safety house, watch a dive team in action, get your bicycle helmet checked and climb inside fire and medic trucks!

10:30 AM – Kid X Club at Polaris Fashion Place – kick off the summer KidX Club at Polaris Fashion place with Pirates & Princesses! This free event takes places outside by the fountain unless it is raining and in that case, it’s moved inside.

11:00 AM – From Book to Film at Gateway Film Center – watch the movie Shrek for free when you present your library card! Showings are at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM every day.

12:00 PM – Columbus Zoo at the Experience Columbus Arena District Visitor Center – this free event offers the opportunity to meet some animal friends from the Zoo up close and personal!

5:00 PM  – 20th Anniversary Creekside Blues & Jazz Fest at Creekside Gahanna – June 15th – 17th is the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival! The Festival will feature over 50 live performances, amusement rides and a free Kids Zone! Kids under 12 are free to enter the festival!

5:00 PM – 2018 St. Mary Festival  at St. Mary Parish Church – enjoy carnival rides, inflatables, midway games, a casino, baked goods, and a kiddie land! Festival happens Friday and Saturday from 5:00 PM until midnight.

6:30 PM – The Main Event on Capital’s Main Lawn – enjoy activities and food trucks, live music from the Shazzbots,inflatables, yard games, crafts and more before watching The Princess Bride at dusk.

7:00 PM – Swim Under The Stars at Tremont Swimming Pool – free admission is available to the pool after 7:00 PM so you can swim under the stars!

8:30 PM – Friday Night Flicks: The Lego Ninjago Movie at Sycamore Park Amphitheater – bring a blanket and chairs to watch The Lego Ninjago Movie at dusk!

8:30 PM – Movie at Mingo – Wonder at Mingo Park – watch the movie Wonder at 8:30 PM. Family friendly activities begin at 8:00 PM.

SATURDAY:

8:00 AM – Strawberry Festival at Bauman Orchards, Inc. – take a short road trip to Rittman, Ohio for all things strawberry including pies, ice cream, slashes an more! There will be other food available plus pony rides!

8:00 AM – Youth Fishing Derby at Delaware State Park – kids under 16 can fish at Delaware State Park! Poles and bait are provided!

9:00  AM – The Great Inflatable Race Columbus at Franklin County Fair-Hilliard, Ohio – run through an inflatable obstacle course or enjoy The Inflatable Village!

9:00 AM – Natural Play Area Adventure at Battelle-Darby Creek Metro Park – kids 13 and under can enjoy the creek, build a fort, climb trees and more in the Natural Play Area! Read about all there is to do at the Battelle Darby Metro Park here.

9:15 AM – Father’s Day Donuts with Dad – Family Stroller Strides Class at Hannah Park – bring dad for a family workout with Fit4Mom Columbus East and enjoy donuts and play time afterwards!

9:30 AM – Family Farm Day at Home of Joy Farm – head out to Lancaster for family fun including a petting zoo, a barnyard parade, peacocks, an indoor obstacle course and more! $10 per car.

9:30 AM – Daddies and Donuts at Ballantrae Park – workout with dad and Baby Boot Camp Columbus and enjoy donuts after class!

10:00 AM – Father’s Day Expo at Eldon & Elsie Ward Family YMCA – enjoy fun and a barbeque honoring the fathers in the community. There will be games raffles, prizes, workshops, vendors and more!

10:00 AM – Passport to Metro Parks Kickoff at Sharon Woods Metro Park – kick off new Passport to Metro Parks program at this festival! Get your passport and start exploring the Metro Parks this summer! There will be snacks, local organizations and lots of fun!

10:00 AM – Kidslinked Columbus Childrens Festival at Westerville North High School – this festival includes a food truck fest, contests and competitions, a Bounce Park and Fun Zone, balloon artist, face painting, scavenger hunt, pony rides and lots more! Admission and parking are free.

10:00 AM – Descendant Pancake Breakfast at the Columbus Children’s Festival – kick off new Passport to Metro Parks program at this festival! Get your passport and start exploring the Metro Parks this summer! There will be snacks, local organizations and lots of fun! Purchase tickets online.

10:00 AM – Donuts with Dad at PARTY Like It’s Your Birthday – bring dad to play at the play space at PARTY Like it’s Your Birthday and enjoy donuts, milk and coffee between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

10:30 AM – Visits with Max, the K9 Dog at Grove City Library – visit with Max, Grove City Police Department’s K9 dog and Officer Kitko. Read more about the Grove City Library kids’ space here.

12:00 PM – Northern Olentangy Watershed Festival at Mingo Park – this festival includes food trucks, children’s activities, raffle giveaways and more!

12:00 PM – COSI Presents Energy! at the Main Library – COSI will be at the Main Library to talk about electricity, magnetism and motion! Kids 6-11 yrs old can build circuits, create chain reactions and more!

1:00 PM – Shark Cart at Westerville Library – the WAVE Foundation from Newport Aquarium will be bringing live sharks to this event where you can learn about sharks and get up close to other animal artifacts! Must register in advance. Read more about the Westerville Library here!

6:00 PM – Flicks After Dark in Muni Park & Fishing Derby at Hilliard Municipal Park – this event includes a fishing derby at 6:00 PM, slingo and a food truck! The movie Daddy Daycare begins at dusk.

SUNDAY:

12:00 PM – Family Day at Pizzuti Collection – the three floors of the Pizzuti Collection will be free on Sunday and there will be activity books, a story time at 1:30 PM and crafts! Read about our visit to Pizzuti Collection here.

11:00 AM – Dad’s, Draft & Donuts at The Draft Room – enjoy brunch from the Buckeye Donuts Food truck and special Dad’s Day Drink specials!

1:00 PM – Judy Carey Nevin – What Daddies Like at The Book Loft of German Village – enjoy a story time and book signing with a Father’s Day theme!

2:00 PM – Father’s Day Fishing at Highbanks Metro Park – go fishing with dad! Bait and light snacks will be provided! Poles are also available. Read about the Highbanks Metro Park Nature Center here!

2:00 PM – Father’s Day Special: Canoe the Lake at Sharon Woods Metro Park – take a canoe out on Schrock Lake! Kids must be able to fit into a life jacket to ride.

2:00 PM – Family Creek Adventure at Prairie Oaks Metro Park – take a half mile walk to the creek and catch fish, bugs and crawdads!

3:00 PM – Father’s Day Carriage Rides at Easton Town Center – take a horse drawn carriage ride throughout Easton. cost is $10/person, kids under 15 ride for free with a paying adult.
