Each month I feature a local parent who will tell us about three places they love to take their kids in Columbus!

3 Places I Love to Take My Kids in Columbus: Josh Kruse:

1. Natural Play Area at Blendon Woods Metro Park

 
The Metro Parks are so full of activities like hiking, biking, climbing, boating, fishing, golfing, sledding, nature centers and playgrounds that it’s hard to pick a favorite but we love the Natural Play Area at Blendon Woods. As you first arrive you are greeted by rope climbing structures before going to a natural log see-saw. From there you have two choices to cross a creek (the balance beam or forging through the water) on your way to a zip line that brings you back home. Pro tip: bring a change of clothes!

2. CAPA Summer Movie Series

Celebrating their 50th year, CAPA is again hosting their Summer Movie Series at the beautiful Ohio Theatre. With animated classics like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, thrillers like Jaws, and musicals like Oklahoma, there is something for everyone. Come early to see the “Mighty Morgan” organ that is played before each show. If you want to hang with us, we plan on going this Saturday, June 22nd for Cartoon Capers at 10am and on Friday, August 9th for Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon at 7:30pm.

3. Columbus Clippers

 
Consistently voted as one of the best Minor League stadiums, Huntington Park is an amazing place to catch a ballgame. Come early to watch batting practice, check out the splash pad and inflatable games or meet Krash and Lou Seal. The Clippers also have amazing promotions with Dime-A-Dog on Mondays, Bobblehead giveaways and Fireworks.
 
Our favorite spot to hang is the outfield Lawn Seats which gives families some space to spread out. If you are only able to catch a couple innings, we suggest checking outside the stadium in Center Field which has great views of the action.
