The 934 Outdoor Gallery and Scavenger Hunt will Brighten Your Day

Looking for a unique way to introduce your kids to art? Check out 934 Gallery’s Outdoor Gallery and Mural Scavenger Hunt in the Milo Grogan neighborhood of Columbus!

934 Gallery on the corner of Cleveland Avenue and E. 3rd Street is home to exhibitions from local, national and international artists, 934 Fest and a colorful Outdoor Gallery. The unique murals in the Outdoor Gallery are a fun way to open your kids’ eyes to a broader definition of art! Through Augmented Reality and a Scavenger Hunt, families can interact with art in a new way!

Even if you choose not to do the structured activities, you’ll love exploring the murals and taking some fun, colorful pictures!

What You Need To Know About Visiting the 934 Outdoor Gallery:

Pick up a Map

First of all, the most important thing to do is to pick up a map in the box that is just to the south of 3rd Avenue at the entrance to the parking lot. This map will help you find all of the murals and includes a list of the artists who created them. You can see a list of mural titles here.

What to Expect

The 934 Outdoor Gallery is home to 36 murals. Four of the murals are permanent, but the other spaces will change each year. A call for muralists is issued in the spring, the murals are painted during the summer and then revealed in September!

The scavenger hunt mentioned here will be active until the Spring of 2021 when the walls are primed for new artists. In the spring, there may be a new scavenger hunt or a new activity involving the new murals!

Parking

Free parking is available in the lot at the gallery or on 3rd Avenue. We had no problem finding parking!

Augmented Reality at the 934 Outdoor Gallery:

There are four murals that have an Augmented Reality experience. On the map you can scan the QR code to access the Augmented Reality information. I was prompted to download an app when I scanned the code. This is available for iOS devices only.

When you view the murals through the app on your phone, they have moving parts that are super fun for the kids to watch. I love how this activity uses technology (which kids are naturally drawn to) to pique their interest in art!

3. “Wondering When” by Ariel Peguero

4. “Moongazer” by Dan Slutz

The Mural Scavenger Hunt at the 934 Outdoor Gallery:

The map of the Outdoor Gallery contains a QR code that will open a Mural Scavenger Hunt. You can also access the scavenger hunt by clicking this link. The Scavenger Hunt has questions about 35 of the murals for two skill levels.
