Thanks to Public Lands for sponsoring this post.
Earlier this week I was invited to tour the brand new Public Lands which is now open at Polaris Fashion Place! Wow! I was impressed and really excited for this new addition to Columbus!
The Columbus store is only the second location of Public Lands! The first store opened in Pittsburgh in September.
Public Lands focuses on Conservation, Access and Equity, and Sustainability. Roughly only 20% of Americans use our public lands and 75% of reported outdoor participants were white. Public Lands is dedicated to grow the number or people who will love and protect our public lands.
What you will find in the store are products and experiences that will enable you to experience the outdoors. No matter your experience level, Public Lands is dedicated to meeting people where they are and helping them find the gear they need to experience our public land!
Whether it’s your first camping trip or you’re ready to hike the Appalachian Trail, Public Lands employs Guides who can assist you in your journey! Each store employs around 100 Guides! I could have used their expert guidance when our family took our first tent camping trip together this summer!
The store itself is a 60,000 square foot retail experience that includes clothing for all ages, hiking and camping gear, footwear, fishing gear and much more! They offer brands at all price points, local products and a climbing wall!
One super cool thing we learned during the tour is that Public Lands is committed to giving back to local and national initiatives that protect new lands, improve existing lands and break down barriers of access to outdoor experiences and improve inclusion and equity in the outdoors.
In Columbus, Public Lands will be donating a portion of its proceeds to Arc of Appalachia, Project Learning Tree and Friends of Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks.
Continuing the local ties within the store, one of my favorite parts is the Local Market featuring some products from local businesses and makers.
Also along the walls are some larger than life images of scenic Ohio! I love this local touch!
Public Lands is now open to the public and they will be celebrating their Grand Opening November 5-7, 2021 with live music, food trucks, demos and special guests! See all the details here.
