Summer Reading Clubs are Launching Now at Columbus and Central Ohio Libraries!

Summer Reading Clubs can keep kids entertained and motivated over the summer! Check out this list of Columbus and Central Ohio Summer Reading Programs hosted by local libraries!

As an adult winner of a Summer Reading Challenge prize a few years ago, I can personally say that these Summer Reading Programs are for all ages!

Check out one (or more) of these Central Ohio Summer Reading Programs to keep your kids focused on the goal! There are prizes involved and some of them are pretty cool!

Columbus Metropolitan Library

Theme: Online Summer Reading Challenge
Dates: May 29 – July 31
Ages: All ages

How it works: Log in to the website or download the new Reading Challenge App. Enter your reading minutes on to your Game Board and compete your Reading Activity Bingo in order to be entered into raffles for prizes like gift cards, free food, books, a bike and more!

Worthington Libraries

Theme: Game On!
Dates: June 1 – July 31, 2021
Ages: All ages 

Register online or in person. You can pick up or download your game guide at any Worthington Libraries location. Receive prizes based on the amount of time spent “playing”. You can play by reading, attending library programs or completing DIY activities.

Prizes include coupons, books, and a grand prize drawing.

Westerville Public Library

Theme: Read & Roar
Dates: May 28 – July 31, 2021
Ages: All ages

How it works: Set your own reading goal and once you reach your goal, stop by the library to pick up your prize! Prizes include books, a birdhouse or notebook and a grand prize drawing!

Grandview Heights Public Library

Theme: Summer Reading Club
Dates: June 1 – July 31, 2021
Ages: All ages

How it works: Use the App to track your reading online! Earn prizes by logging your reading, completing weekly challenged and a BINGO board or attending a virtual program. Prizes include a coupons, a blank book or journal, bracelet and grand prizes at local businesses. See more info here.

Southwest Public Libraries

Theme: Tails and Tales
Dates: June 5 – July 31, 2021
Ages: All ages

How it works: Register online or in person. Earn points for reading, completing missions and participating in programs. There will be weekly online performances, special virtual programs and take & make crafts!

Raffle prizes will be drawn at the end. Prices include tickets, toys, gift cards and more. 

Bexley Public Library

Theme: Tails and Tales
Dates: June 1 – July 31, 2021
Ages: All ages

How it works: Register online or in person. Adults can complete a community read bingo card! Track your reading in order to earn raffle prizes. There will be an outdoor story times and online virtual programing.

Also enter the bookmark contest and color a star reader page to place in your front window! 

Upper Arlington Public Library

Theme: Tails and Tales
Dates: June 1 – July 31, 2021
Ages: All ages

How it works: Download the reading log and mark each day you read! There will be a book prize for kids who read at least 15 days this summer. For each week you read there will be another chance to win a gift card. 

Delaware County District Library

Theme: Tails and Tales
Dates: June 1 – July 23, 2021
Ages: All ages

How it works: Read for 12 hours throughout the summer and collect prizes at the 6 and 12 hour benchmarks. Download the reading log to keep track of your reading. 

Prizes include coupons, discounts and giveaways from local businesses. Adults can win prizes for reading books and attending programs. Most programs and events will be virtual. 

Pickerington Public Library 

Theme: Tails and Tales
Dates: May 24 – August 14, 2021
Ages: All ages

Track your reading on a paper log from the library or on the READsquared app. Complete 15 hours of reading to win prizes!
