Looking for something to do with the kids this weekend in Columbus? Try out one of these 13 family-friendly Columbus and Ohiobased events and activities!

1. Skate Around the Town at Easton Town Center

From February 20-March 20 ice skating will be offered at Easton’s Town Square from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Skates are available to borrow and skating is free! There will be 15 skaters on the rink at a time and masks are required.

2. Blooms and Butterflies at Franklin Park Conservatory

Beginning February 20, 2021, the butterflies will be back in the Pacific Island Water Garden biome at Franklin Park Conservatory! Daily butterfly demonstrations will not be taking place but there will be virtual opportunities to watch the butterflies be released!

3. DIY Winter Hike with Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks

Winter Hikes are happening at your own pace this year and each month different parks are featured. Pick up a Winter Hike Passport from a staff member and collect a patch for completing 7 hikes.

4. Drawing with Sheldon the Snail

Learn to draw with Sheldon the Snail and Miss Jean from Grandview Heights Public Library! This event will take place on Facebook Live on Friday at 10:30 AM.

5. Unicorn Magic Storytime (Livestream) with Westerville Public Library

Kids ages 3-6 will enjoy stories, songs and rhymes about unicorns! Watch on Facebook Live on Saturday at 10:00 AM.

6. Little Kid Fun Skates at Skate Zone 71

On Saturday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, little kids ages 2-5 can use Skate Mates and Fisher Price Skates to learn to skate!

7. Spring has Sprung l Pottery Event at Busy Bees Pottery & Arts Studio

Paint your own pottery on Saturday between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. A $10 registration fee will be taken off the total price of your project.

8. Spring Fling: Bunny Arrival at Polaris Fashion Place

An Easter Eggstravaganza will take place at Polaris Fashion Place Lower Level on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. There will be free activities, a take home craft and welcoming the Bunny!

9. Minecraft – Virtual Paint Party- Just for Kids

Kids ages 5-12 can take part in a virtual painting class on Saturday at 12:00 PM to paint a Minecraft Creeper. Cost is $10 per artist.

10. Crafting with Characters! Presented by The Junior League of Columbus

This is a virtual event on Saturday at 1:00 PM that includes craft making, cookie decorating, stories and virtual interaction with the characters! You will receive a materials and ingredients list when you register.

11. Spring Krespie Treat! (DIY Basket Box) at Dublin Toy Emporium

Make a DIY Basket and a Krespie Kraft. Call or text to register. Times available on Saturday afternoon.

12. March Madness Skate at Skate Zone 71

Watch college basketball on the big screen while skating! Get reduced admission if you come in your favorite basketball jersey! This takes place on Sunday 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. 

13. All Ages Event! Colorful Butterfly with Maria at Wine and Canvas Columbus

All ages can paint a beautiful butterfly. Supplies are included. This event takes place on Sunday from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.

5. Leprechaun Scavenger Hunt at the Indian Mound Mall

On Friday from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM kids can hunt for hidden shamrocks, do a craft, get a free snack and more!

6. Be a Superhero! Portrait Experience at Pearlescent Luxury Portraits

On Saturday from 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM kids can get Superhero portraits taken. Several packages are available. Register online.

7. St. Patrick’s Day Reverse Parade at Darree Fields

A reverse parade means that you can drive through the park to see floats, inflatables, bagpipes and more celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin, Ohio! You can also watch the past parades on YouTube! The parade will begin at on Saturday at 11:00 AM and will close at 1:00 PM. Check the link for a parade activity packet to keep your kids entertained as they wait in the car!

8. JCPenney Kids Zone

Stop by your nearest JCPenney store to pick up a free Easter basket craft activity for kids to take home! Pick up hours are 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday.

9. Pony Rides & Carriage Rides at Kuhlwein’s

Pony and carriage rides will be available at Kuhlwein’s provided by Horse-N-Round Fun on Saturday from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM. No reservations necessary. See link for pricing.

10. $10 — St Patrick’s Day Mini Signs at AR Workshop Grove City

Make a mini St. Patrick’s sign during a 1 hour session on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Projects are $10. Register online.

11. Breakable Candy Kraft at Dublin Toy Emporium

RSVP for Irish Krafts including breakable candies. $10/crafter. You must register in advance. Times available on Saturday afternoon.

12. Irish Hot Chocolate Bombs or Shamrock Pretzels with Bookmark Kraft at Dublin Toy Emporium

Kids can make Irish Hot Chocolate Bombs and Irish Krafts! $10/crafter. Reservations required by calling or texting. 

13. PNO (Parents Night Out-Saturdays) at Dublin Toy Emporium

On Saturday beginning at 6:00 PM you can shop within the historic Dublin area while your kids participate in an activity at Kreation’s Play Kafe. You must register in advance for this event. See the link for details.

14. St. Patrick’s Day Family Friendly Event

On Sunday from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM Worthington will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a family-friendly sip and stroll event.

15.  Family Day at the Dispatch Home and Garden Show

The Spring Dispatch Home and Garden show is taking place March 6-14, 2020 at the Expo Center. Family day is on March 14th.  Children can receive a Child ID from the Franklin County Sherriff’s office from 12:00 PM–4:00 PM  and kids can pick up a “take and make” project from the Lowe’s booth to build at home (while supplies last). Tickets must be purchased online.

1. Half Priced Admission at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

From January 4-February 28, 2021, admission is half priced to Columbus Zoo! The Zoo will be open from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM daily. At this time, timed tickets are not required though capacity is limited. On Monday, February, 15, 2021 admission to the Columbus Zoo will be free in honor of President’s Day. Timed tickets are not required for this free day but capacity is limited.

2. Virtual Storytimes from ProMusica

ProMusica has many Musical Storytime episodes on their YouTube channel! These are for young kids and include stories and musicians who play instruments along with the stories! When you click the link you will also find links to their virtual family concert that was recorded in March.

3. Columbus Symphony Orchestra Kids Korner

Check out the Kids Korner website where you can take a virtual tour of Ohio Theatre, print coloring pages of instruments and composers, learn how to read music, learn about composers and play games!

5. 80’s vs. 90’s Free Dinner Skate at Skate Zone 71

Friday from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM dressed in your 80’s attire! $12 includes admission, skate rental, a slice of cheese pizza and a drink.

6. Children’s Book Brunch with Granville Public Library

On Saturday at 10:00 AM join the Children’s Department staff for book recommendations on Instagram @gpl_kids.

7. Black History Month with Ohio History Connection

In celebration of Black History Month, Ohio History Connection invites you to take part in special programming. All programming is virtual and free for Ohio History Connection members unless noted. Advanced registration is required. This Saturday at 10:00 AM they are offering the Underground Railroad Immersive Experience.

Participants will observe and talk to residents from Ohio Village to understand the Underground Railroad and identify the secret “conductor.” Through the use of highly researched first-person interpreters, participants are able to experience the moral and social struggles surrounding the anti-slavery movement. This program is recommended for children 11+ and their families.

8. Valentine’s Day Carriage Rides, Pony Rides and Sledding

On Saturday from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM you can enjoy horseback sledding, pony rides, carriage rides, petting zoo animals and more. No reservations needed.

9. Valentine’s Day Opening at Sticky Fingers Ice Cream Parlor

For the first time ever, Sticky Fingers will be open on Valentine’s Day for your favorite ice cream and special treats! Hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 PM-8:00 PM

10. DIY Hot Chocolate Heart Bomb at Dublin Toy Emporium

Create 1 Jumbo Heart Bomb and 1 Heart Cup to fill with sweets. Ages 4 and up. Sessions are for 1 family at a time. Call or text to reserve your time on Saturday between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

11. Winter Carriage Rides at Easton Town Center – CANCELLED due to weather

Winter Carriage Rides will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays until February 14, 2021. Rides are $10/person (cash only). Children under age 15 ride for free with a paying adult. Hours are Saturday: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM and Sunday: 3:00 PM-7:00 PM.

12. Sweetheart Princess Valentine Zooms with BeautyBelle

Reserve your customized message from Belle via Zoom and Paulette’s Princess Parties. Call to schedule your time. Belle will sing, dance and deliver your customized message to your little prince or princess on Sunday.
