Family-Friendly Things to do in Columbus, Ohio This Weekend:

1. Dinosaurs in Motion at National Museum of the U.S. Air Force

Dinosaurs in Motion is on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force every day from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM through May 13, 2024. Admission is free to the museum and this exhibit is included! Visitors can control 14 giant, metal dinosaur sculptures! (See more things to do in the Dayton area!)

2. Riverside Crossing Park Ice Rink

This temporary ice rink is right near the Dublin Link pedestrian bridge and will be open for skating on Friday nights and on Saturday and Sunday! This rink will be up through mid-March.

3. Final Weekend: Make Birthdays HAPPY for Local Kids with Seeds of Caring

Through March 3, you can help Seeds of Caring give kids in our community the opportunity to celebrate their birthday in style! Kids 2-12 will pack Birthday Bags with cake mix, frosting, candles, and more for families enrolled at Columbus Early Learning Centers. This Anywhere Project can be done at home, school, or wherever you are!

4. Blooms and Butterflies at Franklin Park Conservatory

Blooms and Butterflies is open at Franklin Park Conservatory! You can walk through the Pacific Island Water Garden to see free-flying butterflies. Check out the Metamorphosis Lab to see new butterflies emerge from their chrysalis. Daily hours are 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

5. Create your own Comic Strip – Kids Art Class at Terra Gallery

Kids can create their own comic strip on Friday at 12:30 PM at Terra Gallery in Dublin. Learn how to write a comic strip and use markers to bring the project to life. Tickets are available online.

6. Timberdoodle Trek at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

Take a hike to look for American Woodcocks at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park on Friday at 6:30 PM. Trails may be unimproved. For ages 8 and up.

7. Paint a Picture, Stitch a String at CCT Studios

This performance was devised by 7 high school students and features scenes of human connection over the centuries. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Show times are available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

8. The Wiz at Eastmoor Academy

Watch a performance of The Wiz at Eastmoor Academy High School. Shows are 7:30 PM on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 3:00 PM on Sunday. Tickets are available online and cash is preferred at the door on the day of the performance. (Online tickets will not be sold the day of the show.)

9. Waffle Bar at Coffee Connections of Hilliard

Enjoy 2 waffle squares and unlimited toppings for $5 this Saturday at Coffee Connections in Hilliard. Or you can get a waffle and a large latte for $10! Hours are 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM.

10. Children’s Musician Marlene Hartzler at Westerville Public Library

Dance and sing during this interactive program with Marlene Hartzler on Saturday at 10:00 AM. Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. Read more about Westerville Public Library.

11. Build a Bug at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

Learn about insects and make an insect craft at Battelle Darby Creek Nature Center on Saturday at 11:00 AM.

12. Winter Art Hop and Mural Tour on Parsons Avenue

Take a shuttle to explore the works of local artists on Parsons Ave. There will also be live music at Community Grounds Coffee House. The event takes place on Saturday from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

13. March Movement: Martial Arts at Northwest Library

Learn self-defense and martial arts at this event on Saturday at 2:30 PM at the Northwest Library backyard! For kids ages 6-11.

14. Watercolor Exploration at the Canal Winchester Library

Explore watercolor painting and learn techniques by painting a Spring design on Saturday at 3:00 PM. Ages 7 and up.

15. Community Day at Franklin Park Conservatory

Residents of Columbus and Franklin County receive free General Admission to Franklin Park Conservatory on the first Sunday of each month. Hours are 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Identification is required. Special programming on Sunday includes a performance by Columbus Symphony Orchestra String Quartet.

16. Maple Time at Slate Run Farm

From 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Sunday you can take a hike through the sugarbush at Slate Run Farm to learn about tapping trees and collecting sap. Learn about the maple syrup process at the Farmhouse. Hikes leave at 11:15 AM and 1:00 PM.

17. Spring Scavenger Hunt at Inniswood Metro Gardens

Grab a scavenger hunt at the Innis House at Inniswood Metro Gardens between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on Sunday and look for signs of spring in the gardens.

18. Family Storytime at Main Library

The whole family can enjoy a storytime that includes books and fun activities on Sunday at 1:30 PM.

19. Amphibian Search at Rocky Fork Metro Park

Take a 1.5 mile hike at Rocky Fork Metro Park to look for amphibians on Sunday at 2:00 PM.
