What Should We Do This Weekend? August 5-7, 2016

Lots of fun things going on this weekend! If I can combine a little shopping, superheroes and a free root beer float, it will be a success! 🙂

1. Tax Free Holiday

When: Friday – Sunday, August 5-7, 2016
Time: Starts Friday at 12:00 AM and ends Sunday at 11:59 PM
Location: Everywhere in Ohio!

This weekend only you can purchase clothing items that cost $75 or less and classroom supplies and instructional materials priced at $20 or less tax free! THIS INCLUDES DIAPERS, my friends! They count as clothing! As long as you’re not buying a case of diapers over $75, now is the time to stock up! This tax free holiday happens everywhere you shop in the state of Ohio!

2. Dublin Irish Festival in Coffman Park

When: Friday – Sunday, August 5-7, 2016
Time: Friday: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM, Saturday: 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM, Sunday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Location: 5200 Emerald Parkway, Dublin, OH 43017

This weekend is Dublin’s celebration of Irish culture, the largest 3 day Irish festival in the world! For kids there will be Fairy Tea and Pirate Parties (register online here), a Wendy’s Wee Folk area with crafts, music and activities just for kids, several fun kids vendors with face painting, photo booth, WeJoySing music, sand art and more! On Sunday, gates open at 9:30 AM for Sunday Services and breakfast. Free admission will be given until 11:00 AM on Sunday if you bring a donation of a non-perishable food item for the Dublin Food Pantry. At the gate, general tickets are $12 and kids 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at a discount online ($10) until Thursday night at midnight.

3. Peppa Pig Party at Worthington Libraries, Northwest Library

Enjoy a Peppa Pig-themed party with songs, stories and games! Ages 5 and under.

4. Back to School at the Bay at Zoombezi Bay

When: Friday, August 5, 2016
Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

WNCI sponsors a Back-to-School concert at Zoombezi Bay! Tickets are $14.99 for that day only. The movie Minions will be shown that same evening at 9:00 PM

5. Rhythm on the River and Movies on the Mile at the Scioto Mile

When: Friday, August 5, 2016
Time: Music starts at 7:30 PM, but food and beverage sales begin at 6:30 PM
Location: 233 Civic Center Drive, Columbus, OH 43215

Head down to the Scioto Mile for a free outdoor concert and movie! JD Eicher plays at 7:30 and the movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens plays at dusk! Donatos sells pizza on site. This is the last movie of the summer!

6. Mom 2 Mom Consignment Sale at Westerville Christian Church

When: Saturday, August 6, 2016
Time: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Shop for gently used baby and kids clothing as well as toys, baby gear, maternity clothes and more. Regular Sale: 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM, Half Price Sale: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM.

7. Junior Garden Volunteers at Inniswood Gardens

When: Saturday, August 6, 2016

If your teen or tween is looking for opportunities to volunteer, check out the Junior Garden Volunteer program with the Metro Parks. This weekend kids ages 11-17 can help with cleaning up the gardens at Inniswood Metro Park. They must be pre-registered and have a parent’s permission.

8. Superhero Day at Easton Town Center

When: Saturday, August 6, 2016
Time: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Location: Fenlon Square, 160 Easton Town Center, Columbus, OH 43219

Superhero day will be filled with activities like face painting, live music, a parade, costumed characters and a concerts by the Shazzbots at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM. Come dressed as a superhero and/or make a super mask at one of the activity stations!

9. Weinland Park Community Festival in Weinland Park

When: Saturday, August 6, 2016
Time: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

This family friendly neighborhood festival celebrates summer with food trucks, face painting, a bounce house, farm animals, a live DJ, a pie eating contest, over 50 vendors, and more!

10. 6-1-Pho 1 Year Anniversary

6-1-Pho in Clintonville is celebrating it’s 1st anniversary! There will be  half off bowls, a performance by 5-star dragon dancers at 1:00 PM, free treats and door prizes! You can also get 1/2 banh mi and kids bowl for $8.

11. National Root Beer Float Day at A&W

12. Family Night at Paper Moon Art Studio
