This week we officially started Online Schooling. We had been patching together a bunch of activities, including some of the ones listed here. It’s been pretty fun to see how many organizations and businesses are rising to the challenge to keep us engaged, educated and entertained.

This is our third week of at-home activities and I plan to keep giving you ideas for as long as we need to stay home! This week I have expanded beyond Columbus to include some other Ohio-based ideas!

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy! Thank you for taking the time to continue to read my blog!

10 Things to do at Home with the Kids this Weekend:

1. Watch Learning at Home options on WOSU.

WOSU has changed its weekday schedule to include kid-friendly, educational programing from 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM each day. Click the link next week for an updated schedule!

2. Listen to a story from a Columbus police officer.

The Columbus Police Department offers Books and Badges! An officer reads a story on Facebook Live! I believe they are doing a new one every week, but my kids loved this one – especially when the dog appeared. The officer reads from Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein.

3. Print out a kid-friendly activity from Goldfish Swim School.

Goldfish Swim School has provided many printable activities for kids including word searches, coloring sheets, memory games, crossword puzzles and more! If you need some non-screen activities, these are perfect!

4. Take an Online Music Class from WeJoySing.

5. Watch Dav Pilkey at Home.

If your kids love the Captain Underpants and Dog Man books, they will probably enjoy watching Dav Pilkey (who was born in Cleveland, Ohio!) draw their favorite characters and read from the books! (See the newest Dog Man Book here.)

6. Watch a story from Little Bottoms Free Store.

Little Bottoms Free Store has provided a story via Facebook Live featuring the book How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?

7. Listen to a Bedtime story with Queen Elsa provided to us by A Dream Come True Parties & Spa!

Elsa Reads the book Goodnight, Princess! (Fast forward to about 4:30 to start at the beginning of the story time.)

8. Paint at home with Canvas Creations.

Canvas Creations for You has been doing Facebook Live painting tutorials. Also follow her Facebook page for kits you can purchase to do art projects at home!

9. 52 Ways to Stay-N-Play at Home

Signe, the writer behind Say-N-Play has a great round up of 52 activities we can do with our kids at home, starting out with some egg-themed activities that would be perfect for Easter this weekend!

10. Do a Family Movie Night Activity from Marcus Theatres

Your kids can print out coloring sheets from their favorite Disney movies like Aladdin, Cinderella, Moana, Frozen and much more! Also on the website are videos teaching kids to draw their favorite Disney characters like Olaf, Ariel, Black Widow and more!

If kids bring a competed coloring sheet or activity page to the theatres once they open, they will receive a free popcorn!
