7 Amazing Coffee Shops in Downtown Columbus (2024)

There are so many amazing coffee shops in downtown Columbus! Try one of these Columbus coffee shops the next time you need your caffeine fix!

I’m always on the search for the nearest coffee shop! If I’m going on an outing with my kids or squeezing in a day date with my husband, there’s usually going to be a stop for coffee involved! Since moving to Columbus, Ohio in 2008, I’ve tried more than my fair share of coffee shops!

In this blog post, I’m specifically featuring coffee shops in downtown Columbus! Some of the best coffee shops in Columbus can be found downtown and I have personally visited each of the coffee shops on this list!

This list will give you good ideas for a coffee shop for a work meeting, stopping in before taking the kids to Columbus Commons or if you need a place to plunk down your laptop and work for a while!

Give one of these 7 downtown Columbus coffee shops a try!

1. Cafe de Nook

  • Address: 175 S 3rd St, Columbus, OH 43215
An iced coffee from Cafe de Nook, a unique coffee shop in downtown Columbus.

This coffee shop near Columbus Commons is one of the most unique coffee shops in Columbus! The inside is decorated with pictures and decor featuring Paris! You feel that you’re transported to a cafe in Europe!

This is a small shop but it does offer outdoor seating when the weather is nice! It’s a great place to pick up an iced coffee before taking your kids to Commons for Kids at Columbus Commons during the summer!

There is no parking lot here, but I would recommend parking in the Columbus Commons Parking Garage. Parking on the street can be difficult to find close to the coffee shop, but I have found it on S. Third Street.

2. The Roosevelt Coffeehouse

  • Address: 300 E Long St, Columbus, OH 43215
  • Website
A latte with a leaf and heart design on top from Roosevelt Coffeehouse in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

The Roosevelt Coffeehouse is not just a spot for great coffee, it’s also part of a larger mission to support social justice causes including clean water, hunger and sex trafficking. I love the big windows at this location that let the sun in!

This coffee shop does have a small parking lot on the side of the building, which is handy! If there’s not a spot available, on street parking is usually pretty easy to find.

3. Brioso Coffee

  • Address: 329 E Long St, Columbus, OH 43215 (Roastery is at this location)
  • Address: 53 N High St, Columbus, OH 43215
  • Website

Brioso actually has two downtown locations, so chances are there’s a coffee shop near you when you need a caffeine fix in downtown Columbus! You can enjoy a full service coffee bar and fresh beans!

It can be trickier to find parking for the N. High location, so if that’s a concern for you, check out the E. Long St. location where there is usually on street parking readily available!

4. Freedom a la Cart Café + Bakery

  • Address: 123 E Spring St, Columbus
  • Website
Banana bread and coffee sitting on a table at Freedom a la Cart, a coffee shop in Columbus that employs survivors of human trafficking.

Freedom a la Cart is a Columbus bakery and coffee shop with a purpose. This downtown Columbus restaurant is part of a larger organization the employs and supports local survivors of sex trafficking, so this is another great coffee shop with a mission that is worthy of our support!

Look for coffee, pastries, and made from scratch meals. When I visited recently I really enjoyed the banana bread with my coffee!

There is a parking lot here on the side of the coffee shop (along with a great mural for pictures)!

5. Parable Coffee

  • Address: 149 S High St, Columbus, OH 43215
  • Website
A specialty latte from Parable Coffee Columbus.

Parable is a large, bright coffee shop with lots of seating. This is a great spot for pastries and specialty espresso drinks. I love the plethora of plants that are incorporated into the decor here!

This coffee shop has a dedicated pastry chef and if you time your visit well, you may get to try something really special! But it’s a popular spot and things sell out quickly!

Parable is also very close to Columbus Commons and if you park in the Columbus Commons parking garage, they will validate your parking!

6. Stauff’s Coffee at The View on Grant

  • Address: 350 Mt Vernon Ave, Columbus, OH 43215
  • Website

This location of Stauf’s Coffee has always been one of my favorites! I love the decor and the ambience at this location which is housed inside the View on Grant. This location is also super convenient for students of Columbus State Community College!

I’ve always been able to find street parking nearby here!

7. Carnegie’s Cafe at Columbus Metropolitan Library

  • Address: 96 S Grant Ave, Columbus, OH 43215
  • Website
A cup of coffee held up in front of Carnegie's Cafe, a coffee shop inside the Main Library in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

Carnegie’s Cafe is inside the Columbus Metropolitan Library – Main Library in downtown Columbus. Not only do they have great coffee, but there is also a wide selection of treats, lunch items and other drinks.

This blog post isn’t about libraries, but I’ll just put a little plug in for our Main Library . . . if you haven’t been, this is a must visit destination! This library is amazing! AND if you’re stopping by to check out a book, you might as well pick up a coffee!

Carnegie’s Cafe is also a very convenient stop for your caffeine fix when visiting Topiary Park which is just outside the doors of Main Library!
