What Should We Do This Weekend? Columbus, Ohio, August 7-9, 2020

If you’re looking for something to do with the kids this Weekend, try out one of these 10 Columbus and Ohiobased events and activities!

Check out this list of events for the upcoming weekend and if you need even more ideas make sure to check out:

1. KidX Summer Series at Polaris Fashion Place

This kid-friendly event takes place outside at the Lifestyle Center Fountain from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM on Fridays. This year the event will be a completely DRIVE-THRU event that includes music, crafts, characters and free ice cream! This week’s theme is Pirates and Princesses.

2. Gahanna Summer Drive-In Series

Head to Headley Park on Friday nights for drive-in concerts and movies! This Friday night they will be showing the movie Onward. Register in advance if you want to attend!

3. Georgie Home Pop Up at Fine Feather

Popping up at Fine Feather is Georgie Home, a collection of bath textiles by Lauren Wager and Laura Sullivan, 2 designers who met while working at L Brands. They dreamed of having a collaboration where they would create simple, thoughtful designs for the home. Georgie’s first collection “Phoenix” consists of patterned bath and hand towels in a palette of 4 colors that would look beautiful in any bath. Georgie will be available at Fine Feather for a limited engagement of 2 weeks, July 30 – August 15.

4. Ohio Sales Tax Holiday

From Friday, August 7, 2020 at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 11:59 p.m., the following items are exempt from sales and use tax:

  • An item of clothing priced at $75 or less;
  • An item of school supplies priced at $20 or less; and
  • An item of school instructional material priced at $20 or less.

5. Legends LIVE!

Join Pelotonia on Friday night at 7:00 PM at for a live 60 minute broadcast featuring special guests (like Sheryl Crow and Sanjay Gupta), stories from the community and more information about this year’s My Pelotonia platform!

6. Visit the Paul Busse Garden Railway at Franklin Park Conservatory 

Visit this outdoor railroad on display in the Grand Mallway through January 2021! The display is made from items found in nature, miniature garden, waterfalls and magical scenes! You must purchase your ticket in advance to visit the Conservatory!

7. Back To School Free Family Fun Fest at Gander Outdoors

Northwest Columbus JBF and Pretty As A Princess are putting on a free party where you can get Marshall from Paw Patrol in a socially distant style, play games, win prizes and more on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Get your free ticket online. This is taking place in the old Gander Mountain location.

8. Saturday Storytime Specials (Lifestream) at Westerville Public Library

Join Westerville Public Library for a live story time on Facebook on Saturday at 10:00 AM! This week’s theme is a Pinkalicious Party! There will be stories, dancing, rhymes and activities!

9. Pride of Ohio Drive-In Movie Series: Ready Player One

Register in advance for this free drive-in movie featuring Ready Player One on Saturday at either 4:30 PM or 8:30 PM! You can add a Snack Pack or Water to your reservation for an additional cost. The movie will be shown in the south parking lot of Ohio History Center.

10. August Family Paint // Ice Cream Sundae at Art with Anna

Come with your family to paint together on Sunday at 11:00 AM! This week’s theme is Ice Cream Sundae! $15/artist. Register in advance.
