What Should We Do This Weekend? Columbus, Ohio, May 28-31, 2021: Memorial Day Weekend

Looking for something fun to do Memorial Day weekend in Columbus? Try out one of these family-friendly Columbus and Ohiobased events and activities!

1. Visit a Farmers Market

Farmers Markets are popping up all over Columbus! Check out the link for a list of Farmers Markets for every day of the week!

2. Dino Safari Drive Thru Adventure

Beginning Friday and running through Monday, May 31 (closed Mondays and Tuesdays), the Dino Safari – A Drive Thru Adventure will be located at Ohio History Connection. Tickets are sold by the car and are available online! Get a $10.00 discount by using the code DINODAY10 (this works best on a desktop)!

3. Strawberry Picking at Hendren Farm Market

Hendren Farm Market will be open for strawberry picking from 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM on Friday! 

4. Friday Afternoon Skates at Skate Zone 71

On Fridays in May, Skate Zone 71 will be open for an After School Glow Skate Party from 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM!

5. Carnival at Young’s Jersey Dairy

Enjoy special carnival rides during Memorial Day Weekend! Hours are Thursday and Friday: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Saturday: 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM and Sunday and Monday: 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM. 

6. Heart of Grove City Food Truck Festival and Shop Hop

Visit Grove City Town Center for food trucks and shop hop specials at local businesses! Hours are 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Friday.

7. Grandview Heights Memorial Day Parade

The Grandview Heights Memorial Parade begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday at First Ave. and Cambridge Blvd. 

8. Storytime with author Freda Narh at Cover to Cover Books for Young Readers

Celebrate the launch of the book “A Kite for Melia”. This is an outside, in person story time on Saturday at 11:00 AM.

9. Petting Zoo at Destination Outlets

On Saturday and Sunday there will be a petting zoo at Destination Outlets in Jeffersonville from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Saturday and 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Sunday.

10. Teacher Appreciation FREE Skates at Skate Zone 71

Teachers can receive free admission on Saturdays in May with a school issued ID. Hours are 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM.

11. Unicorn Rides, Carriage Rides, Petting Zoo & Train Rides at Kuhlwein’s

On Monday from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM there will be carriage rides, unicorn rides, pony rides and train rides. There will also be a petting zoo on site. See link for pricing. No reservations required.

12. Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony in Powell

The Memorial Day parade in Powell is held at 10:00 AM on Monday. it will be followed by a special ceremony at the Greater Powell Veterans Memorial. There will also be a Field of Flags in Village Green Park throughout Memorial Day Weekend. See the link for information on a family-friendly experience pack that can be downloaded.

13. Memorial Day Weekend Events at National Veterans Memorial and Museum

The NVMM is hosting several events to celebrate Memorial Day. Admission to the museum on Memorial Day is free! There will be a remembrance ceremony on the rooftop of the museum at 10:00 AM. The ceremony can also be watched online.

14. Worthington Memorial Day Parade

The Worthington Memorial Day Parade looks a little different this year. There will be a short honor guard procession to Walnut Grove Cemetery where the traditional ceremony will take place on Monday morning. A video will be available to watch on the City of Worthington website and on social media.

15. Memorial Day Services in Galloway

Memorial Day Services will take place at Galloway Cemetery (9:30 AM) and Alton Cemetery (12:00 PM) on Monday.

16. Memorial Day Ceremony in Pataskala

The Memorial Day Ceremony takes place at 10:00 AM on Monday at the Pataskala Cemetery and continue at 11:00 AM at Veterans Green.

17. Westerville Field of Heroes

The Field of Heroes can be driven through at the Westerville Sports Complex all weekend.

18. Memorial Day Open House at Greenlawn Abbey

Tour the Green Lawn Abbey and see the new restorations.There will be an Ohio Proud Field of Flags in the lawn! Hours will be 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM Monday.
