Hot air balloons are always a fun sight to see! Whenever we happen to see one, it’s like spotting a leprechaun or a unicorn: a rare sight to see! But what if you could know for sure that you were going to see not just one hot air balloon, but dozens? Enter the hot air balloon festival!
These hot air balloon festivals in Ohio are listed in the chronological order that they take place during the summer of 2024! Hot air balloon festivals are VERY much weather dependent! So, before you plan to visit, make sure to check the website or social media accounts of each of these festivals listed to verify the dates and times!
1. Balloon Glow
- Dates: May 23, 2024
- Location: Chagrin Falls High School, Chagrin Falls, Ohio

2. Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival
- Dates: June 6-8, 2024

This hot air balloon festival includes food, live music and vendors. Even if the weather does not allow the balloons to launch, the rest of the festival will go on! This festival also feature fireworks, fair food and a Night Glow on Friday night.
Admission and parking at this hot air balloon festival are free. Parking is available at the fairgrounds. There is a Kiddie Midway that requires tickets. Tethered hot air balloon rides are cash only.
3. Ashland Balloonfest

This event includes hot air balloons, food vendors, merchants, live entertainment, a Kids Fun Zone, axe throwing and more!
Special hot air balloon events include a Balloon Glow Encounter (tickets required), hot air balloon flights over Freer Field, and a hot air balloon competition.

4. The Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival
- Dates: July 19th – 20th 2024
- Location: Middletown, Ohio

This hot air balloon festival in Middletown, Ohio features an up close experience with hot air balloons, a Night Balloon Glow, a car show, fireworks and tethered balloon rides.

5. Balloon Classic Presented By Aultman at the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival

This hot air balloon festival is part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival and it takes place over 3 days. The festival includes five scheduled flights and a Night Glow on Friday night.
Additionally, this event includes fireworks, live music, two children’s areas, fair food more!
6. United Way of Defiance Hot Air Balloon Festival
- Dates: August 3, 2024
- Location: Defiance County Airport, Defiance, Ohio

This balloon festival takes place at the Defiance County Airport in Ohio. The balloon flights are scheduled for Saturday morning and evening. Also, this event includes an encore balloon event at the end of the night.
In addition, this event includes a 5K and 1 Mile walk, a kids’ fun zone, food for purchase and a vendor marketplace! Check the website closer to the event for a more detailed schedule.
7. All Ohio Balloon Festival
- Dates: August 8-10, 2024
- Location: Union County Airport, Marysville, Ohio

- Admission: varies depending on your choice of activities. Walk up admission is cash only, otherwise, tickets can be purchased online.
- Parking: $5, VIP parking is available for purchase
This large hot air balloon festival in Marysville, Ohio features food vendors, rides, a 5K, live entertainment, food vendors and other merchants.
There will be face painting and inflatables for the kids in the Kids Fun Space on Friday and Saturday. Additionally, there will be hot air balloon rides, tethered balloon rides and helicopter rides available for purchase.

8. Flag City BalloonFest

9. Ravenna Balloon A-Fair

This hot air balloon festival in Ravenna, Ohio includes a Children’s Parade, a Grand Parade, a community breakfast, inflatables for kids, a Hot Air Balloon Night Glow and helicopter rides!
In addition, there will be live music, food and beer vendors, crafts, a mechanical bull and axe throwing!
This festival is divided between downtown Ravenna, Ohio and Sunbeau Valley Farm. Hot air balloon lift-offs are weather dependent, but the rest of the festival will go on rain or shine.
