Jordan Creek Park is a super fun park in Lake County, Ohio, about 30 miles from Cleveland, that offers so much for kids to do! Attractions include climbing, creeking, ropes, rock climbing and a fun indoor Environmental Learning Center!
My family visited Jordan Creek Park, part of the Lake County Metro Parks, in the summer of 2021 as part of a trip to Holden Arboretum and Lake Erie Bluffs! We learned about this park from the Instagram account @clewithkids and also from my father-in-law who had delivered mulch to the park when it was first built! With two resounding recommendations, we had to make it part of our trip!

3 Things to do at Jordan Creek Park in Painesville, Ohio:
These are the three main attractions at the park that will keep kids entertained! And they may even learn a thing or two about nature and the Environment!

1. Adventure Play
The main attraction at Jordan Creek Park is the Adventure Play area! Kids will LOVE to play here! There is something for everyone to enjoy.
One of the first things you will see is this wooden suspension bridge. It’s definitely a draw for kids when they enter the park! They will not be able to resist running to the stairs and making their way across the bridge!
There are lots of opportunities to practice balance on beams and logs throughout this natural play area! There is also a small zip line.
My kids really liked the ropes courses throughout the trees. There are a couple of different ropes/obstacle courses where kids can try to make their way through without touching the ground!
A huge attraction in the Adventure Play Park is the large climbing wall towards the back of the park!
Whether climbing ropes or rocks is your jam, you will be happy here with all of the options!
2. Creeking in Jordan Creek
If you continue past the huge climbing wall in the Adventure Play area, you can follow a path through the park and then take the steps down the hill to Jordan Creek. There are lots of manmade steps, so getting to the creek is fairly easy (as opposed to climbing down a muddy hill with no steps – everything is relative here).
Right before the creek is a large wooden staircase that takes you all the way to the bottom. There is a large flat plain next to the creek which allows for a lot of room to put your belongings.
Be smarter than us and bring water shoes and a change of clothes!
3. Environmental Learning Center
I was super impressed by the Environmental Learning Center! There were a lot of fun and creative elements here. And there are restrooms. So that’s always a plus. 😉
Kids will enjoy the hands on activities, games and educational displays!
You can birdwatch through the windows, rain or shine! I appreciated the laminated guides to help you identify any birds or creatures you may glimpse through the binoculars!
I really wanted to cozy up on these chairs (pictured below) with a book and a fire in the fireplace. Not in July, of course, which was when we visited. In this case, I appreciated the air conditioning!
My kids could have spent a long time here! And this was after playing in the Adventure Play area for quite some time! This park definitely has the makings of a full outing that kids will really love! I wish we lived closer to this park, that’s for sure!

1. What Should I Bring?
Bring a towel, change of clothes and water shoes if planning to play in the creek. Do not bring bicycles, skateboards or roller blades into the Adventure Play area.
You could easily pack a lunch and make this into a full day outing! When we visited, there were just a couple of picnic tables near the large climbing wall. But other than that, there were not a ton of places to sit in the park.
2. Are Pets Allowed at Jordan Creek Park?
Leashed pets are allowed in the Adventure Park, but not on the play structures. Only service animals are allowed in the building.
