Grandview Heights is a great place to explore if you’re looking for a cute, walkable neighborhood that’s not far from Downtown Columbus!
Grandview has some really great local businesses, some super tasty restaurants and spots the whole family will enjoy! Browse this list of some of the best places in Grandview to explore, shop and eat!
Whether you’re looking for a date night idea, cute shops, a park for the kids or live entertainment, Grandview is a great little city where you can find something for all ages! Read on for some of the best things to do in Grandview!
1. Search for Treasure at Grandview Mercantile
- Address: 1489 Grandview Ave, Columbus, OH 43212
- Website
Inside Grandview Mercantile is an incredible collection of vintage goods and previously-owned designer furniture and decor. This shop right on Grandview Avenue is full of treasures!
(Side note, they were originally located in the Short North neighborhood and this is where we purchased our mid-century modern dining room chairs that I fell in love with!)
The store operates as a consignment store and one unique aspect is that that as time goes on, the price of the item goes down. Check the price tags for dates and pricing! If you’re willing to wait, you may get a cheaper price, but you also take the risk of your item being gone!
This store is really huge and it is just packed with hidden gems! I particularly love the artwork area! You can find original paintings and unique decor items along the back wall!
Also, I recommend stopping by the display cases where you will find some REALLY unique items! I got distracted during my last visit by the human skull (a medical model and totally legal to sell LOL), prosthetic eye and human gallstone on display!
2. Get a Scoop of Ice Cream at Jeni’s Ice Creams
- Address: 1281 Grandview Ave, Columbus, OH 43212
- Website
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is another popular destination in Grandview! This scoop shop was Jeni’s second location (after the North Market)! It has been open since 2006 and is one of our favorite Jeni’s locations! Did you know you can get free Jeni’s ice cream on your birthday?
While my favorite Jeni’s Ice Cream combo is the classic salty caramel and darkest chocolate, there are so many flavors to try! You should definitely step outside your comfort zone and try something unexpected! More of my personal favorites are Brambleberry Crisp, Savannah Buttercream, Gooey Butter Cake and well, pretty much all of them.
There are so many great places to eat in Grandview that I couldn’t include them all on this list, so make sure to check out my list of some of our favorite restaurants in Grandview after reading this post!
3. Pour a Candle at Penn & Beech
- Address: 1255 Grandview Ave, Columbus, OH 43212
- Website
Making your own candles is a fun activity to do as a date night, girls-night-out or a one-on-one activity with your kids! The process begins with choosing the scents you like by smelling all of the candles in the shop!
The employees will help you decide on a combination of 3-4 scents that go well together and then you will begin the process of mixing them in the combination that smells best to you. Add that scent combo to hot wax and you’ve got your very own candle!
The whole activity doesn’t take very long, maybe up to an hour, and it’s a great activity for all ages! We’ve done it with our kids as young as 3 and I recently did it with my pre-teen. If you’re looking for more places to pour your own candles, check out Worthington Candle Works on my list of things to do in Worthington.
4. See Live Music at Natalie’s in Grandview
- Address: 945 King Ave, Columbus, OH 43212
- Website
Natalie’s is a great, intimate venue to see local bands play live in Grandview Heights! They have two stages: The Music Hall Stage and Charlie’s Stage. You can see live, ticketed shows on both stages and they also have a free “Happening Hour” Show at Charlie’s Stage on Saturday nights.
Happening Hour takes place Wednesday through Sunday from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM. There are drink specials and admission is free during this time! Be sure to make a reservation to save your spot! Recently I saw the Whirlybirds with friends during the Happening Hour! It was great!
Natalie’s is known for their coal-fired pizza! They also have a great cocktail menu (named after local artists) and a selection of appetizers and main courses. Make sure to get your tickets in advance for any musical acts you’d like to see because shows are known to sell out!
5. Get a Sweet Treat at Chocolate Cafe
- Address: 1855 Northwest Blvd, Columbus, OH 43212
- Instgram Page
On the edge of Grandview Heights and Upper Arlington is Chocolate Cafe, a delectable shop that sells all things chocolate (no surprise there)! Choose your sweet treat from a large selection of chocolate candies, baked goods, hot chocolate, coffee drinks and ice cream!
Or, if you can also have lunch or dinner at Chocolate Cafe! Don’t let the name fool you, they also have a full selection of sandwiches, soups and even alcoholic drinks. It’s also fun to get the fondue! It comes with melted chocolate and a selection of treats to dip!
What’s also great about Chocolate Cafe is that they are open late! It’s hard to find a dessert spot that is open after dinner time and this tasty restaurant fits the bill!
6. Climb and Slide at Wyman Woods Park
- 1520 Goodale Blvd., Grandview Heights, OH 43212
- Website
This fun playground in Grandview Heights is right on Goodale Avenue and has a lot of unique playground structures for kids to enjoy! This is one of my kids’ favorite parks!
Climbing is the theme at this park! There are lots of ropes, rocks and hills to climb! It’s not necessarily the best park for toddlers (it’s recommended for ages 5-12), but there are some toddler swings and a small tunnel slide. The large slide was so fast and bumpy that it was enclosed a couple of years after the park was opened!
Seasonal restrooms are available at the shelter house and there are sand volleyball courts on site. Several picnic tables are also available for a picnic lunch or dinner. Another bonus here: free Wifi!
7. Shop for Natural Soaps at Glenn Avenue Soap Company
- Address: 1166 W 5th Ave, Columbus, OH 43212
- Website
You’ve probably seen Glenn Avenue soaps in the restooms at your favorite local restaurants and shops, but did you know they have a retail store in Grandview?
Glenn Avenue Soap Company sells more than just soap! You can also find skincare and shaving products, body lotion, bath bombs and more! During the holiday season they also have seasonal scents! I stopped into the Grandview shop to get some holiday gifts for my son’s teachers!
If you’re looking for soap and skin products made without synthetic detergents, preservatives and artificial fragrances, you’ll definitely want to stop inside this bright and beautiful shop in Grandview Heights!
8. Get Your Caffeine Fix at Stauf’s Coffee Roasters
Stauf’s Coffee is an institution in Grandview! One of the most popular coffee shops in Columbus, this coffee shop has old-school coffeehouse vibes and excellent coffee! There is also a large retail area where you can buy coffee, tea and coffee-making supplies!
Not only can you pick up your favorite coffee drink here, but Stauf’s also sells baked goods and breakfast and lunch items! There is a lot of seating inside this coffee shop located in the heart of Grandview Avenue and there is also patio seating when the weather is nice! No matter what time you visit, the shop is sure to be busy!
9. Shop for Handmade Jewelry at Red Giraffe Designs
One of my favorite shops in Columbus is Red Giraffe Designs! My husband knows that is my preferred destination for gifts! I have a lovely sterling silver necklace with two charms with my sons’ names on each of them from Red Giraffe Designs. I cried when I opened that gift!
Stop into their store in Grandview for a great selection of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and more! They will even personalize jewelry items for you! There are always new items in the shop whenever I visit and I just love it so much!
10. Go Nuts at Krema Nut Company
- Address: 1000 Goodale Blvd, Columbus, OH 43212
- Website
Krema Nut Company recently remodeled their store and when I stopped in to check it out I was impressed! The new look is welcoming and the shelves are stocked with goodies!
Krema Nut Company sells all kinds of nuts! Examples include honey roasted cashews, dry roasted macadamia nuts, chocolate-covered nuts and snack mixes. They also sell more than just nuts! Dried fruit, sesame sticks, chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate-covered raisins, caramel popcorn and so much more are on the shelves in this cute little shop in Grandview!
Let me tell you the real reason I go to Krema Nut Company! The milkshakes!! Krema Nut Company serves multiple flavors of milkshakes and many include peanut butter such as the Buckeye, Spicy Peanut Butter and Peanut Butter & Jelly flavors! They also sell huge peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!
It’s definitely worth planning a trip to visit Krema Nut Company!
11. Have a Meal at The Little Grand Market
- Address: 710 Grandview Xing Wy Unit 112, Columbus, OH 43215
- Website
The Little Grand Market opened in Grandview Heights in 2024 and it’s a gorgeous food hall with a bar, and 10 food stalls. They have a Bada Bean Bada Booze coffee shop and bar attached as well.
The Little Grand has a really great outdoor area with tables for eating as well as lounge chairs, fire pits, yard games and a space for live music.
I love the food from Lan Viet and on my most recent visit, I tried the Crispy Chicken Rice Bowl from their sister restaurant, Common Rice. I’d recommend either vendor for lunch or dinner. It’s so good!
12. Visit the Ohio Craft Museum
- Address: 1665 W 5th Ave, Columbus, OH 43212
- Website
Ohio Craft Museum is operated by Ohio Designer Craftsman and features rotating exhibits and three pretty amazing gift shops! The museum features fine craft artists in Ohio and it’s free to visit! They also offer classes and educational programming for all ages at the museum!
This photo is from the Traversing Textiles exhibition in March of 2024 and they had a scavenger hunt sheet available for kids to use to get engaged with the exhibit!
There is a small permanent collection at the museum but the real focus is the four major exhibitions that are on display each year. The 3 gift shops are also a major highlight! If you’re looking for a unique, handmade gift item by a local artist, you’ll definitely want to stop in here!
13. Have Afternoon Tea at Cambridge Tea House
- Address: 1885 W 5th Ave, Columbus, OH 43212
- Website
There aren’t very many places in Columbus where you can have a full tea service, but this is one of them! Cambridge Tea House is a lovely restaurant that serves breakfast all day and soups, salads and sandwiches for lunch. They have delectable, freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and jam if you desire!
The Afternoon Tea comes on a three-tiered tray with a full-sized scone, three finger sandwiches and two mini desserts. It also includes a pot of tea. (The tea service pictured here was for two people so it was two servings on a shared tray.)
If you’d like to take your kids, they also have a Prince or Princess Tea for kids 10 and under that includes one sandwich or entree, fruit, tea cookies and a beverage served in a tea cup.
Reservations are a must at this tea house! It’s a popular spot and if you’re going to have a tea service, making a reservation will ensure that all the food is available for you!
14. Indulge at Toft’s Grand Scoop
- Address: 1288 W 5th Ave, Columbus, OH 43212
- Website
Toft’s Grand Scoop just opened recently in Grandview! We have loved visiting Toft’s Dairy in Sandusky on our summer trips to Lake Erie so I was completely pumped when I heard they were opening an ice cream shop in Columbus!
The ice cream is so good! Toft’s Grand Scoop sells 20 permanent hand-dipped flavors, 4 rotating flavors, 2 soft serve flavors, cookie sandwiches, milkshakes and more!
The portions are huge and everyone gets two eyes on top of their scoop!
15. Grab a Coffee at Royal Flamingo Coffee
- Address: 945 King Ave, Columbus, OH 43212
- Website
I had a lovely first visit to Royal Flamingo Coffee! This coffee shop is located inside the I Like it Like That Bar next to Natalies in Grandview. At the time of writing, they’re open from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM Wednesday through Sunday. (Enter through the patio!)
This space is so fun and vibrant and their award-winning coffee is top-notch! I got the seasonal latte: Tarra Go Go. Which features Lady Go Go espresso, milk and tarragon syrup. Their menu is full of different brews to try including limited-time offerings called “Super Fun” coffees.
You can also get a Barista’s Breakfast which features an espresso, flat white and batch brew if you can’t make up your mind! A limited selection of pastries and donuts are available, too.
I hope you found something to love on this list of some of the top things to do in Grandview! A few more ideas include the consignment shops up and down 5th Avenue, the Grandview Public Library (there’s a great play area for kids) and attending the Grandview Hop during the summer months!
Grandview is full of fun things to do and I will continue to add to this list as we explore! You can expand your boundaries a bit to find some more fun things to do in Columbus, Ohio!
