Looking for something fun to do this weekend in Columbus? Try out one of these family-friendly Columbus and Ohiobased events and activities!

1. Because Everyone Should be Celebrated on their Birthday with Seeds of Caring

No matter how old or young we are, birthdays are special days to pause and be grateful for our lives and to feel loved by those around us. Join Seeds of Caring through June 26 for this Anywhere project in which kids will learn about the power of kindness and will assemble birthday bags so that clients of LifeCare Alliance and Buckeye Food Alliance have all they need to celebrate their special days!! 

2. Feast Of The Flowering Moon At Yoctangee Park In Chillicothe

Starting at 11am on Friday May 27th visit Yoctangee Park for The Feast Of The Flowering Moon! This festival includes many family friendly activities and entertainment. Native American music, dancers, crafters and exhibitors will all be in attendance at this annual event. The event runs through all of Memorial Day weekend.

3. Scioto Mile Fountain Opening Day

Friday May 27th at 11am is opening day for the Scioto Mile Fountain! There will also be games on the grass and music to kick off this unofficial start to the summer.

4. Junie B. Jones The Musical (Sneak Peak) At Westerville Library

Friday May 27th at 5:30pm see a sneak peak of Junie B. Jones The Musical at Westerville Public Library. There will be a preview of songs and readings from the upcoming performance, followed by a fun Junie B. Jones inspired craft.

5. Fourth Friday Festival In Uptown Westerville

Friday May 27th starting at 6pm visit Uptown Westerville for Fourth Friday. There will be food trucks, pop up vendors and entertainment this week from Luke Mossburg Music. Something for everyone in the family!

6. Memorial Day 2022 At National Veterans Memorial & Museum

Starting on Saturday May 28th at 10am visit National Veterans Memorial & Museum to honor the brave men and women who lost their lives to protect our freedom. No admission will be charged this Memorial Day weekend (Sat-Mon) donations are accepted online or in person at the museum.

7. Utica Sertoma Ice Cream Festival

Visit Utica this Memorial Day weekend to enjoy the Utica Sertoma Ice Cream Festival! Saturday May 28th through Monday May 30th there will be something for everyone! Sack races, ice cream eating contests, COSI on wheels and much more will be there! Also register to meet with author Renee Casteel Cook on her book Ohio Ice Cream: A Scoop Of History from Noon-4pm.

8. Jeni’s Strawberry Jam At Land-Grant

Visit Land Grant Brewing Company at 11am Saturday May 28th and Sunday May 29th for Jeni’s Strawberry Jam! 2-days of food, music, drinks and plenty of fun for the whole family! See link for line up of entertainment.

9. Summertime Story Time With Beanbag Books

Saturday May 28th at 10:30am head over to Ciao Cafe with Beanbag Books to enjoy a summertime storytime featuring books about summer. Enjoy your story time with a scoop of gelato! All ages are welcome!

10. Story Time With SRD Harris At Easton

Saturday May 28th at 11am head over to The Yard at Easton for a story time with SRD Harris where she will be reading two of her books. This event will benefit CHA Animal Shelter to help pets find loving homes.

11. For Families: Creeking At Highbanks

Saturday May 28th at 2pm visit Highbanks Metro Park for some fun creeking! Buckets will be provided, but you must wear some type of shoes in the water for your safety. Meet in the Big Meadows Picnic Area.

12. Weed ‘Em And Eat At Battelle Darby Creek

Saturday May 28th at 1pm visit Battelle Darby Creek for a fun afternoon of foraging for edible plants. A naturalist will guide you on what “Weeds” are safe for eating, samples of prepared foraged foods will also be available afterwards.

13. Free Movie Night at Columbus Commons

Head to Columbus Commons on Saturday night for a free showing of Encanto! Movie starts at 8:15 PM.

14. Pleasant Valley Paddle

Sunday May 29th at Noon visit Pleasant Valley for a paddle out on the lake. Life jackets must be worn at all times and canoes will be open for use. This event is for ages 10+.

15. Aullwood Audubon Open For  Memorial Day

Monday May 30th enjoy the holiday by visiting Aullwood Audubon starting at 9am. The nature center, farm discovery center, trails and all facilities will be open for the Memorial Day holiday.

16. Worthington Memorial Day Parade

Monday May 30th at 10am visit Worthington for their annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade will start on E. Dublin-Granville Rd and will end at Cemetery Dr. A ceremony will take place afterwards at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

17. Dublin Memorial Day Ceremony 

Monday May 30th at 11am there will be a procession through Historic Dublin and will start at Riverside Crossing Park and will end at Dublin Cemetery. There will be a wreath throwing ceremony with a complimentary picnic to follow.

18. Memorial Day Festivities At The Wagnalls Memorial Library

Monday May 30th at 10am head over to the Wagnalls Memorial Library for a community parade, followed by fun at the Wagnalls. There will be food, music, lawn games and festivities for the whole family.

19. Canoe And Kayak The Lake At Darby Bend Lakes Park

Monday May 30th at 1pm visit Darby Bend Lakes Park for some fun out on the lake in either a canoe or kayak. Life jackets will be provided and must be worn while in the water. This event is recommended for ages 10+.

20. Concerts On The Green At Bryn Du Mansion 

Monday May 30th at 6:30pm visit the green at Bryn Du Mansion for a live performance by The Petty Hearts. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnics. Food trucks will also be on site for dining out.

21. Jazz In The Park At Havenwood Park

Monday May 30th at 5:30pm visit Havenwood Park for Jazz In The Park and a live performance from Yumbambe’. This event will also feature 9 different food trucks lined up to enjoy.
